<< <i>Congrats! Did you ask that he use that wide marker? >>
They were pushing us through line. I did not really have a chance to say anything. I would have preferred the auto to be a little thinner also but it still looks pretty good. I just kind of expected that they would use the most appropriate marker for $300 an autograph.

Cards looks great in my opinion. $300.00 is all you paid ??? I paid $500.00 for Bobby Orr on a rookie
Thanks for replying but I think you misunderstood what I was asking. What I meant was - why is this one also red with no grade? - shouldn't it be blue? And why have the blue one if it looks like the red (such as with this Aaron shown here) can do both?

No real difference - but the red authentic could be used in the PSA registries. I guess the red does say the card is authentic - blue flip I guess could mean the card is a fake and the auto is good??? Not sure how they would label a fake Aaron rookie with an auto???
The difference is that the AUTHENTIC on a Red Flip means that the card is authentic, not the autograph. The PSA DNA# certifies the autograph. The Grade/Auth on Red Flips certifies the card.
Red PSA/DNA - Authenticates the Card AND the Auto.
Blue - Authenticates auto only.
But if the card is authentic, why not just have it slabbed in a regular PSA holder which is ALSO RED? I don't see why they would just label it "Authentic" without a grade (because if its graded, its already saying its authentic - and then just add the "PSA/DNA" as Authenticating the auto as well.
Not sure if what I'm saying makes sense but I'm trying to explain it as best as I can. Only reason I can come up with is that maybe some people don't want the card to have a grade. Could depreciate the value is its a low one and take away from the authenticity of the card and signature with a lower value because of the low grade.

Bingo.
It is at the option of the submitter. There is a checkbox on the submission form for with a card grade or for without. I personally get all mine now with a card grade, but that's just my preference. Others have different opinions

I agree... I now do everything with a number too... for 1 it helps me if I want to upgrade the card at some point.

I went with the Red flip and authentic because I think a PSA 4 or 5 grade takes away from the looks of the card but that is just my opinion.
I sent this Mantle card in and requested a grade and was very happy. It was previously a blue flip authentic.
I sent this Mantle into PSA and put red flip PSA 7 minimum but PSA feels it was not a PSA 7 so they did not change it. It is still nice as a PSA 9 blue flip.

I'd have preferred something thinner myself.

if you did not want the number grade personally I would have went for the blue flip.
either way great looking card, Congrats!
But as far as the red - so there's 2 types it seems? One with a grade and then this one (without)
Can someone explain whats the purpose of the blue if this one seems to be the exact same thing (red but WITHOUT a grade)
Thanks
Marc
mbothner - What a cool card and auto. I've owned that card before and I still would if it had been autographed. Very nice.
I want to get his 1959 Topps card autographed in the future. Thanks for sharing!

No,
Red Authentic Is PSA DNA Certified and the card is certified authentic
Red Number graded is PSA DNA Authentic but assigns a grade value to the trading card
Blue authenticates the autograph only. Card is irrelevant.
