1985 WMMC AWA Wrestlers Prism Stickers The Legion of Doom and The Road Warriors....

I just recently purchased these two stickers and they are awesome!!
I got the first one on EBAY last week and did a little research and found that there was another sticker from the set with just Animal and Hawk and emailed the seller to see if he had that one too and he did so I purchased it from him directly.
I have only seen these twice on EBAY and once was a set but it was listed quite cheap and it lasted as a Buy It Now for just a few hours and then landed over in Australia.
What I like the most about these stickers is that in 1985 when they came out I would see them in the vending machine outside of K Mart in Orlando and we wanted them but my mom said no we can't afford them. I remember them vividly and I am excited to add these to my collection!
I sent an email to PSA to see if they will grade these and if so these could do very well in a PSA holder similar to the basketball version from the same year.
Here are the scans.

Boy do I remember those and being in Kmart stores, crazy thing about my mom back
then was she acted like that quarter was gonna break the bank! I would think theres still some
stuck to the bottom of skateboards and jr. high lockers thanks to me.My favorite tag-team of all time for sure.
Edit-I still have some of the white covers around here somewhere they used to cover them
Needs'
1972 Football-9's high#'s
1965 Football-8's
1958 Topps FB-7-8
It is kind of funny when you think back to 1985 and $0.25 was just too much to get my mom to spend on these.
Today parents just can't say no and put in on a credit card.

In reality I have no idea what to expect for grades so it will be a real surprise when they hit.

Once I see how these grade I will have a better idea on what they look for other then the obvious.
If these are graded like the 1985 Prism Basketball then a high grade set would be virtually impossible.

A full set if listed with scans and the right advertising could easily bring in $200+.
I am anxious to see how these look in the over sized PSA holder.

I just checked and the grades just popped on these two.
I had no idea what to expect and hopefully they look cool in a holder.
The good news is the grades popped right on time and I am fine with the results.

Congrats. PSA 8 is high grade for those Prism Stickers. And PSA 7 is certainly not junk.
Eagles check the scans from the early part of the thread for pics. They are just two different stickers.
I am guessing the centering held The Road Warriors one back as it is sharp.
Once I get them back I will post some scans for everyone to see.

<< <i>What us the difference between the legion of doom and road warriors? >>
in AWA/NWA/WCW The Legion of Doom was the tag team The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) + Paul Ellering (their manager)
in WWF they dropped The Road Warriors name and just used The Legion of Doom name with or without Paul
also,, long long time lurker, first time poster!
Edit. After a wiki read the legion of doom was in fact used early in their career along with the road warriors. It's possible both cards are from the same year.

Many of those are from 1984.
They were only in the AWA from 1984 to 1986.
American Wrestling Association (1984-1986)In 1984, the Road Warriors moved on to Verne Gagne's American Wrestling Association (AWA) along with their manager Paul Ellering. On August 25, 1984, they defeated The Crusher and Baron Von Raschke for the AWA World Tag Team Championship.[4] The Road Warriors were brought in by Gagne to work as heels, but their squash matches soon won over fans. They became the AWA's top draw throughout 1984 and 1985, feuding primarily with The Fabulous Ones and later the Fabulous Freebirds. The Warriors then began splitting their time between the AWA and NWA where they started feuding with NWA World tag team champions The Russians, all while still holding the AWA belts. Hawk and Animal eventually lost the AWA title to Jimmy Garvin and "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal on September 29, 1985, due to the interference of the Freebirds.[4] The Road Warriors' last appearance in the AWA was on April 20, 1986 at WrestleRock where they defeated the team of Garvin and Michael Hayes in a steel cage match.
There are severall names in this bio that are in the set too.
I have mentioned it before, I remember these from my childhood and they are indeed from 1985.

I was 13 years old. In 1986, my dad took me and my friend to Baltimore for the Jim Crockett Senior Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament. It was being publicized and marketed like the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
After the event, we heard that some wrestlers were staying at the Days Inn across the street. My dad (who did not care for wrestling at all, but still drove us both days, over 75 miles each way) took us to the lobby.
Road Warrior Animal was sitting in the lobby in street clothes, talking to folks.
Since earlier in the night, I had seen with my own eyes, Jim Cornette produce a fireball from his hands and throw it into the face of one of the Road Warriors, and since it was the days of strict KAYFABE, I mistakenly assumed that Hawk, his partner, had been the recipient of said fireball. So I said to him, "How is Hawk? Is he doing okay?"
Animal replied, "Yeah, he is alright. He is at the hospital getting checked out."
My friend Scott leaned over to him, and sort of whispered, "We're just kidding man, we know it is all fake."
Animal, whose legs were the size of most 100 year old tree trunks, looked back at him and replied, "What did you say?"
Scott replied, with noticeably less confidence, "I said we were just messing with you. We know it is fake."
Animal looked up at him, and very calmly, but sternly, said, "I could pop your head like a zit, kid. Now get the hell out of here."
My dad, who was an Army Ranger, and the toughest human being I have met in my life, looked at both of us and said, "Time to go, boys."
Scott was still shaking two hours later when we got back home.

This is one of the things I like so much about Animal and Hawk. They were legit tough guys.
The WWE produced DVD The Legion of Doom is great for anyone who wants to learn more about them.
They got their start like many pro wrestlers from Minn. working in the bar where Hogan used to come in and play base guitar after the AWA matches. It is wild how many future pro wrestlers worked there.

From 1984.

These are some recent sales of 1985 Prism in PSA 8 which I think are good to use as a potential benchmark for these.

I ended up winning two of the stickers. I got the Baron Von Raschke and the Tonga Kid. I plan to try and purchase more as they come up over time.
I just came across this today. At the 8:03 mark the brand new The Road Warriors are interviewed. Absolutely classic. They were just starting out and you can tell!

Whomever this guy is knows cards. For that I respect him.
This is the first time I have seen the Wendi Richter sticker.
I threw an early bid in but the price quickly escalated. You just can't get this scarce wrestling material cheap at auction.
