Labor is cheap in Africa. For every dead striker, there will be a thousand willing to replace him

I got the same impression. If a machete wielding mob attacked me, I'd use the same deadly force.

    Disagree.
Nazi Germany was killing unarmed civilians.
Waco was seizing the property of civilians who were not provoking anyone.

In this case, if you live by the sword, you can die by the sword. Whenever you conduct yourself with weaponry, you can
only blame yourself if a battle incurs.

Didn't I see you at the Battle at the OK Corral image If those Cowboys would have obeyed the law and checked their guns at the gate, then
they wouldn't have lost their life. Carrying weapons is not a crime, but there is way too much killing going on in that part of the world to allow
weapon carriers to act like that. The same way there was way too much killing going on with the Cowboys in Tombstone.

I don't see how this situation can be resolved in favor of lower platinum prices. Higher prices, probably. Lower prices, not.

TTT for Mesquite who was just asking why platinum is jumping in price.

I was reading on some site, even with the miners striking there should still be a surplus of I think it said something like 200,000 oz in 2012.

    Molly Maguires.

If you go to Jim Thorpe PA. You'll see the lavish mansions and lifestyle of the Rich Coal mine barrons. Just up the street is the horrible stone prision where the miners got to die, that is other than the mines.
    --------------
I'm just guessing they weren't striking because they have a safe job, make lots of money, and conditions are just great. Its the framing of the whole situation that leads to this kinda thing. You'd think we evolved a bit by now, maybe learned something, but I guess not yet.

Pretty good reasons why the police and military should not be the only ones to have firearms.

Those "peaceful" strikers killed 2 cops & burned to death 2 security guards in their vehicle before they decided to attack the cops in the video.
I don't blame the cops for reacting the way they did when that mob charged them out of the bush. That's my 2 cents worth....

Where were the guns then? You fire 100 tear gas bombs in crowd of people they will run. All I see in a massacreimage

No guns, just spears, machetes & knives. Not a pleasant way to die. BTW, tear gas & water cannon's were used prior to this incident on the main group of strikers, however, the group that charged in the video apparently was hiding in the bush and if you notice, almost on top of the riot trucks with the water cannon, when they charged the police line. Unfortunate incident with over 30 dead and 70+ wounded. Blame the Mine owners for not controlling this situation before it got out of hand and not the cops who's lives were in jeopardy by the charging mob.

Thanks PH. Could not view the video from where I'm at. But, that does sound like something that would account for the price increases.

Once the trouble makers are rounded up and things get back to normal, expect prices to fall back to where they were before all this trouble began.
