Have you all seen the new DC silver bars?

So apparently Daniel Carr is getting into the poured Silver Bar market, and these things look exquisite... to me at least.

I happened upon a picture of these earlier and followed it back to the site, but I have to warn you that they are a bit pricey.

Bars Here

I think they are beautiful but I'm on the fence about buying one, what do you all think about the designs and premiums?

Nice. Pricey though on the 1, the 5 isn't too bad.
  • I just ordered a June 5 oz. bar.
I like the old poured bar look and it will fit nicely with my silver bar collection.

No thanks. A little too pricey for a modern silver bar. If I had to sell it locally, I doubt I could get any more than melt value for it.

I appreciate the origin of Dcarr's business name.

And that some people collect his pieces as works of art. I like this better than most of his pieces.

But in the context precious metals, where integrity is so important, "Moonlight Refinery" doesn't give me a feeling of trust.

Are they a combination of pouring and stamping?

Can't imagine that detail on a completely poured bar.

What purpose does the $200 denomination serve? It's not like it's a coin or will ever be spent like money.

I think they have a very attractive design, and look nice and chunky, have just the right combo of poured and minted appeal (they look poured, then stamped with his coin press, then hand lettered with the date and denomination) I kind of like the date (with month!?!) but I do not like the denomination on there at all, and fail to see the point of it.

I'd buy one for a buck or two over melt, as with his other fantasy and token output, but because they trade for more to "collectors", I'll likely never own any of them

Neat, but too much of a premium for me. I'd be a buyer at around half the current premium on a 5 oz bar.

I bought a one ozer, but I didn't go "all in". In fact, it's the only bar I now own.image

And yes, it's a nice looking bar.

and is it even legal to put $200 on that... it's not like it is a fantasy piece

Maybe we get a buy back of $200 always? image

PS I'm not one to pay large premiums, so it is a no for me.

There's no way those will always be worth $200 no matter what, they don't have the required Treasury specs.
Maybe that means that is a rock bottom price for us to ever BUY one, not re-sell.
Curious to know what the June mintage ones are. With 31 only for May, a guy on eBay already wants $350. image
I think ima gonna buy a 5 oz June one for the hell of it, not too much of a ridculous price even if 100 are made.

DC can't make a better bar than that?
    His coins are fantastic.
These look like homemade basement bars.
