1968 No S Dime... Just Found, and submitted.....

You guys are gonna bonk me for this one.
But found a 1968 no s dime in a proof set.... I TOOK PICTURES but, my external hard drive wont boot up, so I can't pull them out of it!!! image
Tech guy is working on it, might rescue the pictures.

But just looked at how rare this little coin really is... only up for auction about once or twice a year.
PR67 and PR68 with a couple of cameos. NO Deep Cameos.

I would grade mine the same PR67-68 with a 50/50 shot at cameo.
Looks like PCGS has graded 19 of them..... soon to be 20!
I already have it sent off to heritage (we send them a bunch of stuff every month) so I should find out the grade in the next couple of weeks... I'll let you know.

Sorry, this was gonna be a great Guess the Grade....... but no go on pictures.

We buy thousands of proof sets every month, as well as mint sets.
Many dealers, just know to ship it to us. We have storage area with "cubbies" to hold the sets, and as I get time..... he he ha ha ho ho... ok I'm outta breath.
I go through as many as I can for varieties/errors/stellar coins etc....

So I don't know who sent it to us, could have been a dealer at a show that I shipped home, or a shop I visited.

But I'm just sick I can't get the pictures to work. I was hoping to have a thread here that lasted more than 5 replies.

So don't wanna tell ya, but.....
Since I haven't found one before, I didn't really know what it was worth.
A quick glance at the greysheet, I saw $1200-$1400.... I've found no S 1970 dimes and such, and they are all about $1000, so I figured this one was about the same.

Sent to heritage, and insured it for $1500..... one of my employees said yesterday, " hey boss, have you heard anything about that $15,000 dime?" I said, "what?, you mean $1500," he said, "I can't believe you're the boss, you can't even read, book says $15,000" I checked latest sales at Heritage, and 23,000 is about the going rate.

    What I dork I am.

So I do in fact suck.

I know there are no picture and all, but I'll just guess 67 for the hell of it.

By the way, that's a fantastic find!!!

I have 32 '68 proof sets in a box. I'm sure I already went through, but after hearing this, looks like I'm going through them again!

    Good Luck!

I've gone through quite a few more. Some were even in original sealed shipping boxes.

No such luck for Lee! image

    << <i>There's one in the upcoming Stack's Bowers sale, PR-69, reserved at $23,000 >>

But why NGC.... for a rare coin... PCGS is the only way to go.... even if it's a grade lower, still should bring the money.
