I arrived at the Saint Charles convention center 45 minutes before the 1 PM show opening time. I got my badge and settled into a nice easy chair to await the opening. By 1 PM there were about 60 people ready to go. When the show started I began a slow search of the bourse floor. At about the fifth table I spotted two Draped Bust Quarters in PCGS 30. Although they were graded correctly,they had a few nicks and scratches. Since I am looking for a superb coin and not an average coin I passed without asking a price. Next I saw an 1835 Half Cent in PCGS 58 that had great surfaces. A closer look revealed 3 parallel scratches on the reverse. I passed again. After about an hour I came to the table of a large gold dealer. I had 3 small gold coins in PCGS holders to sell. He made an offer which was close to what I wanted for them but I decided to pass. Soon I came to the table of J.J. Teaparty, which was located in the middle of the floor. Liz was finishing up what sounded like a very complicated deal so I took a seat to wait. The deal was quickly finished and I showed my gold coins to her. She did a little figuring and came up with the exact number that I wanted. Deal done. Moving on I got to the table of Jonathan Kern. I had 7 Pillar dollars from the Mexico City mint to sell. He examined them carefully and made an offer. After a few rounds of back and forth offers and counter offers we struck a deal. I had now sold all that I had brought to the show. Moving on I next examined an 1805 quarter in PCGS 50. It was well struck and clean but had been dipped too many times. Passed again. Next I saw an 1861 $10 gold piece in NGC 58 at the table of John Gulde. It was a very well struck super blazer that I thought would cross with no problem. Since an 1861 goes for about double that of a common date no motto $10 I could not justify buying it. I had now reached the back of the room so I took a look at the exhibits.They were few in number and very mediocre. I was getting thirsty so I ponied up $3 for a 24 ounce Diet Pepsi. I started on my second pass of the floor. I saw a PCGS 66 1908 $20 gold piece from the Wells Fargo hoard, 3 five piece proof sets from the 1880's and 1890's in mostly PCGS 63, an 1793 Liberty Cap Large Cent in PCGS 6, an 1925 Buffalo Nickel in PCGS 65 that had super color and several other nice coins but nothing that I needed for my collection. By late afternoon I had done all the damage that I could do so I headed to Denny's for dinner.

Venue and facilities: A+ . I love the convenient Saint Charles location and the convention center is superb.

Snack Bar: B- . They had a nice selection and the prices although high were not out of this world.
Pages: A+ . The pages were friendly,very polite and energetic.



I had a great time. Any day that you get to play with coins is super!

Excellent report.

It sounds like there are a lot of coins on the bourse floor that made it into a graded slab some time ago but which probably would go into a genuine holder today.

Thanks for reporting. It also sounds encouraging that at least you were able to sell coins for decent prices, even if
you couldn't find much on the floor to buy.
