NGC registry

I found this curious. An announcement from NGC about registry "enhancements":
NGC Registry members can also customize their view and elect to participate in an exclusive NGC environment. Many collectors of NGC-certified coins have asked to compete only against other collectors of NGC-graded coins. Now you can select “NGC Coins” and the sets you see will be scored based solely on the NGC-certified coins that they include.
All sets and coins will appear in both views, and the NGC Registry rules will remain the same. In the “All Coins” view PCGS-certified coins will continue to receive their full point values. There are no plans to remove PCGS-certified US coins from the NGC Registry, but we wanted to offer a new option for collectors who want to participate in an Exclusive NGC Registry.
Strange.

WHO CARES!!!!!
<< <i>I see no use in this new NGC exclusive Registry, except to give some mostly NGC Registry sets higher ranking. Reason being, that the best sets often have almost all PCGS coins. I for one will continue to hunt for PCGS coins to purchase. >>
Finally, the fact that NGC allows the inclusion of PCGS-graded coins, while PCGS does not reciprocate, tells you all that you need to know about grading and registries.

I have the Eliasberg 1876 CC dime and the Pittman 1839 O dime. Both are wonderful coins. I have a spectacular 1877 S Dime Ms66 NGC/CAC - by far the nicest I could find. Sure I did try and cross them a few years ago along with an NGC AU53 1874 cc dime but they did not cross.
The coins are going to remain in NGC holders until the next owner as I would not downgrade them except for maybe the 74cc which I feel is more an AU50 and not a 53 anyways.
The other coins are gems and I simply feel they are properly graded. I understand PCGS has a risk in removing the coins from the holder to confirm they are all there and with high grade gems this is an issue for them, as it should be.
The result is there are many of the best coins in the planet in NGC holders that will stay that way, there is a place for both registeries.
Buying top quality Seated Dimes in Gem BU and Proof.
Buying great coins - monster eye appeal only.
YMMV!
I also like see a registry set jumping to #1

<< <i>The truth is there are many great coins locked into NGC holders.

I agree.
There is almost no way you can have the best set possible in either all PCGS or NGC plastic. Some will want you to believe otherwise. MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Sure there is - buy the best coins in whatever plastic and then do what it takes to get them all into the same holders.
<< <i>Isn't this just what PCGS does with it's collections . I don't see any problem and think its a good idea >>
