<< <i>Think about what the administration at Penn State did and its aftermath. Now think about what the NCAA did and its likely aftermath.
One allowed and almost directly contributed to children getting sexually abused; lives forever altered in ways that I wouldn’t dare to try to comprehend.
The other makes it harder to win football games. Football games.
Now do you think the punishment was too harsh? >>

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
The NCAA completely missed when they gave out these penalties.
If they wanted to make an impact to prevent further damage they should've banned division I sports from being aired on television, put an 8 year cap on all college coaching tenures and a 5 year cap on athletic directors. That would've stopped the football machine that is sweeping the nation. Too bad there is too much money to lose. Hypocrites.
What gets me is Penn states is acting like the victim. I have seen no remorse by the people of Penn state for the real victims in the last couple of days.

I can't find it now but an hour ago I saw a headline that suggested Penn State students were very upset by this and can't believe wins were taken away. WTF!? Who cares about some stupid wins for a football team!? People are nuts. I am a big sports fan but the older I get the less I "get" sports.

I heard Todd Blackledge on Mike and Mike this morning. He suggested Paterno used "poor judgement." I think the second time he said it he called it "very poor judgement." However, he was totally defending Paterno, blaming the media, and said all facts aren't yet known. So you can put him on the island with the Paterno family and a few others who are drinking the kool aid.
Not going to sugar coat this; it absolutely disgusts me to hear someone say JoPa used "poor judgement".

Ha! While they were at it, the NCAA should have vacated that 1982 win against Nebraska where Blackledge threw a "completion" out of bounds. Won them the national championship, and likely cost Nebraska one.
<< <i>Penn state doesnt deserve this treatment. >>
You may be right -- many are of the view they got off "light".
I think the punishment was about right, except they may have gotten off light with the fine. However, they are likely going to pay much more than that in civil lawsuit settlements.

Nonsense.
I'm tired of this entitlement society where people always want to put the blame on someone else. When especially they dont and will NEVER know the whole story.
The NCAA are bullies and should look at themselves. They have been milking billions of dollars off of college athletes for decades.
Isnt it kind of ironic that Mark Emmert was given absolute power, to punish a school for giving a man too much power? Hahahah just saw that online. Thought it was funny.

Sure that's it. Punish everyone else for Poe Pa's hubris and lack of good judgement and weak morals. PSU slappies can not stand the fact that Joe Pa was knocked off his pedestal. Disgusting and disturbing. MJ

Penn State got off very light. It should have had it whole athletic program shut down for a year and the football program for 3-5 years. There is little difference in this penalty, and what OSU got for trading for tattoos.
A couple months ago, Penn had a coach, an athletic director, and other executives, that had no need to answer any question to the school board, before the next board meeting. It is hard to imagine they have restructured their whole athletic program in a few weeks.
It is a shame Paterno's name is still on the library. It is a complete joke that former Paterno players, some forum users, and some Penn State students feel like there is any defense, or feel victimized. We typically only hear of about 5% of sexually assault victims. There was likely over 100 kids molested over the decade it was allowed to happen.
There is only one thing a Penn State student/staff member of the like should be saying, "I am sorry."
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

It speaks volumes to the mindset and integrity of people who are more upset about their college football team losing wins than they are about children getting raped by a pedophile. Wow. Just...wow.
