Topps American Pie Jimi Hendrix relic card redemption status

A lot of people, myself included, are anxiously waiting for Topps to issue this card. I just called Topps and was told they are still negotiating with the estate for permission to issue the cards. I really hope I don't get stuffed on this one since I am not sure what Topps would send in place of a Hendrix relic? I guess I would settle.for something from Eric Clapton.....LOL...

    If I don't get this card, I will think twice about buying any more redemption cards. It's like rolling dice...

    lol, this is a upper deck type move by topps though, lets sell a product that we have no rights to but plan on getting them...

    Would you believe I am still waiting for this card ! Has anyone ever waited months for a card and actually received it? What are my chances of getting this card?

    You still have a chance. When I won a signed Larry Bird jersey from UD Glass, it took almost a year - and then I got a black Bulls jersey signed by MJ instead.

    Just saw this thread. Sounds like a cool card if it ever materializes. Though I heard Topps now changed it from Jimi to Nickleback to Coldplay.

    A year? Jeez...I just hope they don't swap it out with something cheesy. I've tried to call Topps a few times over the last month, wait on hold and then get switched to voice mail and then never get a call back. I bought the redemption card off eBay, so if this doesn't happen, I will be out a few denaros...I guess that's the chance you take....

    It should be illegal for a company to sell something (redemptions are part of the "value" you are paying for when purchasing packs) that they don't even have.

    I bought a Hendrix redemption on eBay for $125. I knew it was risky but the payoff could be huge. Lemme know if you hear anything on this.

    I would feel better if Topps would just return my call. I've left a few voice messages but they have never called me back. Excellent customer service !
    Yes, I dream of getting this card too, but I've never waited so long for a card before. I agree, they should should not issue redemptions for items they don't have. If this doesn't materialize, I will report them to the better business bureau for sure. I'm not kidding.

    It seams ridiculous that they sell a redemption card for something they don't have. If that's acceptable then I would like to issue s redemption card for a card containing a lock of hair of Jesus Christ and Larry bird. A rare 1/1 duel cut Jesus and basketball Jesus. I'm offering it for the low price of 1 million dollars.













    Extra fine print... Card might not be available I reserve the right to replace it with something of equal value. Like a god shammgod autograph rookie

    Playing in bands for most of my life - I like the idea of auto cards from some of these great musicians - I would definitely consider some kind of set down the road.

    Good luck in getting the card.

    Side note on autos - a friend of mine went to a Van Halen concert a few years ago - bought the front area ticks with advance entry for sound check and meet with the band. He brought a guitar neck with him to have Eddie sign - he refused. He theorized that Eddie was selling signed guitars back then. BTW - Sammy did sign his guitar.

    Spoke to Customer Support today. Sad news is that it doesn't look like they will be able to fufill this redemption. image
    I was told they should be contacting me soon as far as a final answer/replacement relic card is concerned.

    What can replace a Jimi hendrix relic? What would accept as a replacement?

    It would be tough to replace Jimi, but some possible replacements might be...

    Morrison (already mentioned)
    Janis Joplin
    Buddy Holly
    Elvis
    John Coltrane
    Robert Johnson
    Kurt Cobain (would be stretching it for some)
    Jaco Pastorius (personal pick)

    There would be no words to describe my anger. I now understand why many try to flip those redemption cards for less than card-in-hand values.

    Oh man. I know they are planning on giving you this to hold you over until they come across/figure out the Jimi Hendrix card, but c'mon. They coulda at least sent you something music related I guess. Doc Gooden? Meh.

    Is it worth contacting them again?

    Between Topps, Panini, and Upper Deck I have over 25 redemptions with 12 over 6 months due. Panini is by far the worst with most over the 8 month limit they have on their website, but Topps is getting close. They sent me an email at the start of the year that 4 of the redemptions are over their own time limit and replacements would be sent. 6 months later I finally asked and they said that their customer service was re-orged and that it would be delayed even further.

    I usually hate saying this, but maybe it is time for a class action lawsuit. There has to be some type of misrepresentation going on here.

    You have to call Topps and strongly explain that this was not just some card you "pulled", but that it was a card you purchased on the secondary market for a decent amount of money (even if you did not).

    Hmm. Dwight Gooden auto or a Jimi Hendrix auto....hard to decide. You should have said you would rather have a Steve Stone auto.

    That is awful. I would be getting a hold of someone at Topps and ripping them a new one. Probably would blast them on Twitter as well.
