Just Got Back From FUN

Spent the day at the FUN show in Orlando.

Got a free ride up & back on a bus chartered by our coin club.

Found 2 bogus Bust Halves. One dealer knew his coin was bogus but the other didn't.
He was pretty surprised when I explained why it was bogus.

Found 8 unattributed BU 1958 Type B quarters for $8 each.

Got 15 circ Rev B's including 2 1956 pieces for $5 a piece.
Looked through about $500 in silver quarters for them.

Dealer honestly didn't know it was bogus.

Its not the first time that I've told a dealer that his
bust half is counterfeit. Most of the time they honestly
don't know... I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
I always end up buying the coin anyway, sometimes
for a very low price. : ^ ))))

Re: the bogus halves - I believe there were two different coins and two different dealers involved. One knew his coin was bogus, the other dealer did not know that his coin was bogus. Also, assuming these were contemporary counterfeit halves, these have a collector following and some value. I don't think anyone was trying to cheat anyone else here, nor does anyone need to be 'outed' or otherwise accused of any wrongdoing......just my opinion based on my interpretation of the story, but it's Harvey's thread, so if he wants to comment more he will.
