German Silver......I have been talking and complaining

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 24,760 ✭✭✭✭✭
to Ebay regarding the listing of German Silver bars and how it is just a scam as there
is no silver in them. And, most sellers were skirting the facts when listing these bars.

It has been a personal peeve for a long time now and my blood boils every time I see
one of these bars up on Ebay. So after much communication and many complaints I
just got this email from Judith at Ebay:

I checked with the CCW some time ago about German silver and was told
there is a market for it. I sure don't understand why so I instituted a
couple of rules for listing German silver. First, it must be disclosed
in the listing that German silver actually contains no silver and
second, the bars can only be listed in "Bullion > Other". Since this
seller did not have the bars listed in the correct category, I removed
the listing.

If the CCW had had a problem with these bars I would have worked to have
them restricted on the site.

So, I guess I made some headway! I feel better now! Why, I don't know....lol

The same holds true to: CLAD, PLATED, 100 MILL(s), GERMAN OR NICKEL SILVER along with TIBETAN SILVER. Those bars have NO BULLION value and contain NO, or if lucky, a small amount of PLATED silver or gold.

Ebay will nuke reported items above if they are listed in silver or gold bullon categories.

True, but most of the scammers know that and list the items in the "bullion other" category, which btw is ok per eBay.
