eBay Funds Availability email

4 months ago, eBay placed a hold on my account because two buyers complained about my $2.99 shipping fee and gave me a '1' on shipping rates, thus impacting my seller performance and initiating a 21 day hold on funds. I
told eBay they could pound sand, I don't need them to sell. I then refunded all the buyers, relisted all the coins on webstore.com for free and had the buyers send me a second payment, which eBay could not hold because it wasn't through them.
I haven't sold on eBay since and don't miss the fees one bit.
Today I get this nice email:

All over a $2.99 shipping fee?
Seems a bit silly on eBays part.
The name is LEE!
<< <i>Jack how have sales been on WebStore? I gave it a try for a month and sold nothing closed down with only a few hits per item and no sales even at reduced prices.
i had the same exact experience on webstore.
i also tried usacoinbook at the same time. i had exactly one sale and it was to a nonpaying buyer.

Good for the first month, sucked since. Odd. I tried eBid as well, but they have automatic re-occurring fees whether you use them or not. I don't like that at all.

Clearly when you state a reasonable ship charge in your auction - say $2.99 or even $4.99, and the buyer receives the item and is unhappy for any reason with the charge -----if the postage slapped on the front is less that that charged, etc., and even though the cost of shipping is NOT ONLY POSTAGE.......the seller can ding you on the DSR's and Feedback - ending up in the situation with the 21 day hold on funds.
I have heard of this, and I believe this is completely rediculous. I think that by HOLDING your funds, PAYPAL is putting themselves in a bad position......whats happening to the earnings on the money while it's held??? Is there a benefit to PAYPAL while holding YOUR funds??? Now think about that over potentially thousands of people in the same position.
IMO, EBAY should revise the way the DSR's are calculated/rated. If they wish to have shipping rated, the question should be "Did you receive your item within X days?", followed by "Did the seller charge you the stated rate in the auction?", followed by "Was the item packed appropriately?"
Each and every question when you answer "YES", the rating should be computed......meaning you cannot because of some rediculous reason leave a "1" unless you answer "NO" to each of the questions.
So, if you answer "YES" 3 times, a "5" is granted, YES twice, a 3.5 or 4 and so on.
The easy answer, for at least the persons complaining about postage affixed to the package-------print your labels online without postage amount stated. Problem solved.
What I would like to know is the Ebay names of the two clowns that complained about a $2.99 shipping fee and left a 1 on your feedback. I would sure like to block them.

<< <i>The obvious solution to this problem is to quit running auctions and only list fixed price, including whatever amount you need for shipping in the price and calling it "free shipping". Buyers can't ding your shipping charge rating then. >>
This is exactly what I do. I see more and mroe sellers doing the same thing "fixed price" listing. That would give the buyers lots of time to think it over before they hit the "buy".
