I wondn't sweat it, you guys advertise with PSA, so I don't imagine it is expected you follow simple guidelines that everyone has no problems with.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
I hope you guys have a wonderful year of acquisitions and sales because of your generosity.
Way to go BBCE

I can't imagine what the 8.5 would go for.
Pop report
Edited to add it looks like BBCX has a very nice PSA 7 up right now for $7,000.

suck it, San Fran.
<< <i>Sorry, but this giveaway is only available to those who stop by our booth at the National. It is also limit one entry per person; no ballot box stuffing! There will be a complete list of rules at the booth. After the show on Saturday night, the BBCE guys will sit down over pizza and beer and check to make sure the winner doesn't have any duplicate entries. I know that sounds ludicrous, but we want to make sure it's an absolutely fair contest where everyone has an equal chance of winning. >>
FYI- I plan on winning.
<< <i>FYI- I plan on winning. >>
Sorry, but I plan on staying at the BBCE booth the entire time. As soon as someone enters the drawing I will be filling out another entry form with their info on it and entering their name a second time. Since EVERYONE except me will have entered more then once, guess who that leaves the winner? HAHAHA
Edited to add: What a great giveaway Reed!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Doug, while I'm glad you *won't* be doing this, there is some genius to your idea!
Make sure to thank Steve for his generous gesture! That's quite an expensive item to give away for free. It's not on par with Rosen giving away a 52T Mantle, and you won't have to stand in line to spin a giant wheel to win a prize, but we hope this will add to the "good" publicity this hobby desperately needs.

If giving away a six thousand dollar card doesn't fall under the term generous, then what does it fall under ?
If they gave away a 1986 Fleer basketball pack, or a Jordan PSA 9 rookie, that would be a good business attraction,
but this is more then generous in my opinion. But you are entitled to yours.

Not many billboards, magazine ads, and TV commercials are offering to give me a $6000+ prize for simply showing up to their store. It's generosity, period. They don't have to offer this, as well as offer us 10% off AND package dozens of separate orders in our group rips on a monthly basis. They spend countless man-hours plus chop 10% off their margin, simply because they appreciate our business. If we keep looking a gift horse in the mouth, they could easily take that all away because none of their competitors do it. If they didn't offer us the things they do, they would still sell just as much stuff as they do already, and make more profit based on their quality product and superior customer service alone. Stop trolling behind a jealous alt and let people enjoy this offer for what it really is.

A few other comments.
I'm thinking goner may be upset because he was unsuccessful in getting the other thread deleted.
And I'm thinking bubblebath may be upset because I posted the purchase history of one of her favorite sellers, and it included massive amounts of uncut sheets and a paper cutter. Misdirected anger.
i'm thinking i could hardly give a crap about whether they lock, delete or celebrate anything we do here.
i'm also thinking you and your buddy HoneyForNothing oughta come original, eh?

Great response, Reed. Wish I could go to National.
<< <i>Even if it IS just a brilliant marketing move by BBCE, how is that construed as a negative? They do lots of very generous things for the hobby (i.e. for US...) but this will certainly drive traffic to them too. And that's perfectly OK as a motivation in my book. >>
I don't think anyone is suggesting BBCE's move is negative. I think the comments you are referring to relate to me and the other guy for basically noting an AD is AD.
I understand now it is cool to place ads in this part of the forum, if your BBCE.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

Seriously, MeteoriteGuy, there's no reason for your remarks or my wise-ass replies. I'm not bragging (well maybe I am), but I probably enter more homes, look at more collections, and spend more days on the road than any other dealer in the country buying cards. Don't you want to be friends with someone who, sooner or later, is going to unearth some HTF Steve Young or Tony Gonzalez cards?
Ok, so maybe I took some liberties with my post, but I thought several thousands of my friends here would enjoy a chance to win a cool card for free, that's all. You can't fault us for trying to grab some free publicity, right? Besides, we'll all be reading about the George Bush card anyways in SMR very shortly.
If businesses aren't allowed to post alongside collectors in this forum, I will totally understand and will respect that rule. If this is a place where members are allowed to share (information, experiences, opinions), then I should be allowed to share mine as well.

While perhaps blunt, I was not rude with my responses and do not agree they were out of line, even after your admitted smart ass reply. Businesses are not allowed to post ad in THIS part of the forum, no one is allowed to, collector's also. But, perhaps you were not aware of this rule.
If it was a newbie that did such, 3-4 people would correct him. But since it was someone like you that posted it, I get called an "alt" (which makes no sense with 7693 posts) and "jealous."
I did note PSA (more so CU) treats advertisers different...this is fact that anyone who has been around for some time can verify. (Honestly, I would treat advertisers different also.)
"Don't you want to be friends with someone who, sooner or later, is going to unearth some HTF Steve Young or Tony Gonzalez cards?"
I am always willing to purchase Young's and Gonzo's I don't have. I am never willing to be a suck up in hopes to save a dollar.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
I say to the critics here what Joel Zumaya said to the NY Yankees a few years back after fanning the side: "F___ those guys!"
Besides, the bottom of every one of his posts is an ad for what he's shopping for.
P.S. Did I use the correct "thru"?
Edited for grammar
While I do not participate in those group rips it is a huge part of the board and BBCX has been a tremendous resource to many here.
That alone should allow you to post away.
This is a very exciting offer and I really enjoy learning about rare cards and I learned something new today. Thank you for that.
I will not be at the National but it would be awesome if one of the board members wins that very valuable card.
<< <i>I get called an "alt" (which makes no sense with 7693 posts) and "jealous." >>
I was referring to "Maurice"... you were just being a wet blanket.
