That is absolutely amazing. BBC Exchange is awesome. For them to not even open the box and check for that is the kind of honesty you just rarely see these days. I will be a customer for life. What a pickup.
Submit that thing and hope you get a 9. I may even like to buy it
Makes the 2 cellos I am about to get a little anti climactic as that's likely the only Montana in the box

I received my 1982 Topps Cello box and I added a 1984 Donruss Box. I have to say, after a tough day at work, it was a nice sight to see my package from BBCE arrive. While I don't plan on breaking the boxes at this point, they are absolutely gorgeous. My wife saw me looking at the boxes and laughingly said she wished I still looked at her like that...

DO NOT mention how great it is that the packs looked just like they did all those years ago. I repeat DO NOT!

Got my package today. Picked up an 81 and 82 cello box. Got a Pete Rose on bottom from the 81 cellos. Might I add, the 81 cellos are beautiful. They are not tight (like the 82's) and the condition of the cards are smoking.....centering and corners.
The 82's I got a little more star power, Carlton, Yount and Gossage on top. Also got (4) 85 Donruss racks and (2) packs of 85 cellos.
Everything will stayed sealed except the 81 FB. Gotta get a Montana.
Nice Stuff Mark!! I only had one pack that had star power and that was an 82 cello with an in action Reggie Jackson on the front. For the most part my break was blah, but in one pack of the 85 fleers I got a Puckett,Ripken and Sandberg!!! Thanks again for setting this break up!
My first group and I am hooked! What a blast, I felt like a 10 year old kid on Christmas morning I got Four '81 Topps Football hoping for a Montana Like the rest of us, but no luck. I did get these three though with the Payton being the only contender for a sub from my amateur eyes (I am new at looking for candidates to sub for grading). Sorry my scanner isn't that great but here is the stars.
The Monk has this small chip on the right /bottom side and the Clark isn't centered that well and has some tilt issues. I can honestly say that the '81 set in my opinion is absolutely horrible looking. Topps put out a terrible looking design that year for Football IMO. But I have also realized through this experience that I am much better off buying already graded "Personal Collection" cards rather than trying in to get them in Unopened Wax. It's tuff and more expensive. I bought a few low cost boxes to open just for the hell of it in One 90-91 UD Hockey, One 91-92 UD Hockey, and One 88 Topps Football Cello. The Hockey was really bad corner wise and with the 90-91 box I had the 5th and 8th card of every pack be doubles (no stars). The '88 Topps Football was tuff looking too due to tint issues but I did score a Boz Rc on top of a cello which was something I wanted. But It was a blast, I tore through them in 30 min straight! Was awesome and just to have the chance at Star Packs I will continue to be part of future Football Group Rips! THANKS!
Edit: BTW if anyone needs anything from the Hockey sets or 81(other than the three pictured) and 88 Football let me know and Ill give them to ya
Thanks for running this! I had bought [2] 84T racks and [4] 85D racks, and while I did not hit any stars on front/back or any of the RC from either year, the centering on both were great IMO. Also I bought an 82T cello box. Not much star power on front - the best are shown below [the Gossage has Carew on back as well] but again, the centering was generally good, and I also hit [2] Ripken RC's out of the packs that I opened up
I cropped some of the edges off by mistake on the scan, but you'll get the idea
Looking for PSA HOF autos, PSA Vintage Red Sox and Pedro Martinez
Got my cards this morning....had a blast ripping them, didn't have much star power on fronts and backs, so I didn't sit on any of the cellos/rack packs.

Wish I had received my package. lol. Evidently there was a train derailment in Montana and my package was on one of the 17 railcars that piled up. This sucks. . Keeping my fingers crossed I get my order. Mark

Paid and added a 1978T wax box since I missed the Group Rip #8! Thanks for setting up these rips! I will blow up the @Toppscards Twitter account with proper 70s & 80s rippage pics once they have been received! (Hopefully will help the college group remember there were cards before 2012 Topps UFC & 2012 A&G!)
I received my package today. I'm probably going to leave everything sealed, but I thought I would share some hall of famer sightings:
1. Ozzie Smith on the back of an 83 cello. Can't see the name, but the statistics are unmistakable 2. Paul Molitor on the front of an 85 rack. 3. Rollie Fingers on the back of an 84 rack. 4. Steve Carlton on the back of an 84 rack.
Added a box of 82 Donruss to my order that will stay sealed.
All-in-all, I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm looking forward to see if Steve posts any new goodies to the website after National. A huge thank you to Mark for continuing to coordinate these breaks.
<< <i>anyone up their 98 SP authentics? anyone produce a bigger pile of dung than my two packs? show me something good someone! >>
Not me! I got a Marshall Faulk and Marvin Harrison which are both PC hits, which is neat but nothing major, unless you count a Ryan Leaf RC?! As for the rest of the Rip I did decent on star power. Nothing on top, but I received a couple of Yount's and Murray's as well as some other well known players. Thanks for setting this up. I think I am hooked!

I opened my 2 1982 packs and didn't get much. However, the sticker in one of the packs was a Nolan Ryan. I haven't opened the 84 rack packs, but one of them has George Brett All-Star and NL Stikeout leaders (Tom Seaver and Steve Carlton pictured) facing the front. If any Brett or Seaver fans want these, pls let me know.
Hi All - finally got to my package from BBCE - it was delivered in great time (like 3 ays after paying) but just hadn't had the chance to open up and dig in until today. got 4 84 rack packs - nothing special on front and back so decided to put those away for awhile.
got two packs of 81 Topps Cello FB - flipped a coin and chose to rip the one oath the Cardinals Team Leader card on front. Bit of a funny story - my dad was with me and was most curious about how the gum would be so before looking through cards I parted the deck and gave him the gum - he ate it - he spit it out - as some of you may know gum looses its gum property after 31 years -
any way, i got back to the deck and placed the cards leader card aside to find the following:
my heart skipped - its real nice to get a great card - unfortunately there is a small chip or bulge near the lower right corner - but i think its nicely centered and corners are pristine - debating whether to get it graded - let me know what you think.
thanks for a great experience BBCE and cincyredlegs! - this was my first CU pack rip and i look forward to more...
Contrats Mark! I don't have a lot of experience submitting cards so I'll let the experts give you advice. The centering does seem nice though which makes it shows very well.
The two packs of SP Authintic got opened last night, and NO Manning.
Pack 1: Brett Favre, Kerry Collins, Troy Aikman, Michael Westbrook, Rob Johnson (Max Impact) Pack 2: Steve McNair, Tony Banks, Yancy Thigpen, Erik Kramer, Antonio Freeman
I have four packs of 98 SP Authentic from this rip that I am offering up to the boards (ended up buying someones items who didn't pay). $24 each delivered.

unfortunately that makes it unlikely there is more than or even 1 Montana left in that box

I've found over the years that it is common to have a few cellos from the same box have duplicate players showing either on top or back. Just saying.

Well, okay, I got my box of goodies in the mail
today, and since this tread needs more pictures,
I'll just post everything.
The racks are easy to see, so I'll just post them
without comment, but a couple of the cellos are
tougher, so I'll help out with those.
Here goes...
This is Dan Quisenberry/Bruce Sutter, and Jim Gott.
This is Phil Niekro and Jerry Koosman.
The rest are easy to see.
That's it, waiting for my next package!!
