13 PCGS Dealers within 20 miles of me.

SwampboySwampboy Posts: 13,115 ✭✭✭✭✭
I found my way to this page on the PCGS site while looking for a likely dealer to submit a Darkside coin for me.

I was mildly suprised to find out that there are 13 within a 20 mile radius. (Seattle area)

Just wondering how many dealers are within 20 miles of other forum members.

People ask me to submit coins for them. I tell , "sorry, I'm not authorized"
DSS Enterprises and Tom Reynolds are the "authorized" dealers in my town.

Of the 14 reported to be within 20 miles of my ZIP code, only 6 are actually within 20 miles of me.

See how many are current and still functioning.....you may be surprised again...

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I don't understand. If you are a Collectors Club member, you have submission privileges as I do. Why would anyone seek out an authorized dealer for coin submission? It's easier and cheaper to do it yourself.

    Oh for sure.

I know that because when I found these boards and PCGS I called one and left several unreturned messages. I did noticed almost every shop is a PCGS dealer.

I wish being a Collectors Club member AND a Master Collector made me an expert.
Since they don't I'd rather pay someone else for their knowledge and hopefully learn something.

There is one dealer that is a ninety minute drive from my home. Needless to say, most of my purchases are done over the internet.

That search may not work so well.

It shows that there is only 1 within 500 miles of me. Yet it shows that there are 5 within 20 miles of San Jose (25 miles south of me).
It also appears that there are none within 20 miles of Tustin or Santa Ana (nearby PCGS).

    Something screwy there!

I have you beat by about twenty years:

Vollmer has been out of the biz since the early 90's!

I have notified PCGS of this repeatedly. They could not be bothered to fix it....

Zero within 20 miles, as I thought. Zero within 50 miles, as well. Five within 75 miles (one in Savannah, GA and four in Jacksonville, FL).

    'Bout what I figured.

  • I find 10. I've done biz with at least 3 of them, including our own Wei.

It is interesting that so many here live so far away from PCGS dealers!

Webpage lists three. Two are the same person (Nachbar) and one no longer owns the coin shop.

You might find a bit of a bias toward people in rural areas on any Internet forum. I currently am active in two hobbies that would be virtually impossible in the days before the Internet - this and planted freshwater aquariums. Both of these are niche hobbies that require a fair amount of interaction to exchange ideas, brag, beg, etc, etc. I'm betting many people who are active in a local club get by fine with less of an Internet presence. This isn't universally true, of course, but in my entire circle of acquaintances, there are precisely zero who even know that slabbed coins exist.
