A HIGHLY CUPPED BROADSTRIKE JEFFERSON IN (MS) CONDITION!
I wanted to show this dramatic Jefferson error to those interested in collecting in this series. This is an exceptional Major Mint Error that just doesn't come around to
often at auction. It looks like a Die Cap-but in this case it is not, just a very nice highly cupped broadstrike nickel. Trying to find another like this error, may take me
a few years.
A very well-known error Specialist Fred Weinberg emailed me mentioning that he has seen some that were slightly-cupped,but said was the best he has seen, as far
as the deep'cupping'aspect goes. I called in to PCGS grading service also, they looked into all this and told me only (32) made certification, where only(15) made it to
(MS) mintstate.
Now, this is for all types of Errors, however' this type being a highly-cupped', I would think very few exist in this condition being certified in MS.
This error coin also has strong fullsteps- full design on the obverse and the reverse. It is certified and authenticated as MS-62, by one of the two top grading services.
This will definitely command a premium value in this condition. The scratches you see are on the holder, not on the coin.

One of the things that we dread most about numismatics is the supply of error coins drying up someday. There is a dwindling quantity of error coins that can be acquired without denting our small pockets right now. It clearly shows in reading one of Fred Weinbergs books, and it is noted that all the major striking errors found in the past five years could probably fit in a person’s two hands. The number of major errors coming out from the mint are getting increasingly rare while the quantity of coins minted continues to be very substantial, every year. The more I search into this Jefferson series, it's amazing just on how many ways to collect.

<< <i>I've collected errors for 30+ years and have never seen a simple broadstrike cupped as deeply as that one. It must be struck multiple times. Great looking coin! WTG!
I agree. That one is pretty deep!
These errors are cool as they are like a poormans die cap
