Newp: Saxony taler from summer 2012 Baltimore show

Dated 1614, this is one of my trophy pieces. Attributed by the dealer as Dav-7573, and graded by a reputable TPG as MS65, I made a beeline to the dealer's table pretty much as soon as I got to the show. In hand, the highpoint "lightness" is much less prominent. The colors are flashier and nicer (the bottom reverse darkness is due to uneven light distribution during imaging). What is hard to see from the image is that the coin has metal fatigue. With a loupe, the stress is quite visible. In hand, with unaided eye, the stress was much less visible. Of course, my eyes are terrible these days so your guess is as good as mine how nice this piece really is. To my Stevie Wonder eyes, this piece is quite lovely.
I don't have time to do a history write-up of this piece. If some kind soul would be willing to write one up for me, I would be grateful. Work and breakfast beckons.

Speechless.
I've been really getting into these Sachsen Talers as of late.
Absolutely Stunning in every way.

Thanks for the link to the wiki page. I'll supplement...
This coin is relatively common for the type. Nevertheless, it is in a pretty nice state of preservation. I say "pretty nice" because my MS63/64 Seated and Trade dollars are vastly superior. I know, I know - different generation, different situation. Anyhow, I'm a firm believer any "gem" taler is truly rare. This is an early 17th century piece, and you just don't see them like this. So, bottom line, I'm a grade snob. Shoot me.
