Ouch! A sting is easy to run when playing on the marks greed. Lead them in for awhile, then put the hammer down. I hope ebay covers this and monitors more. Just too odd. Did someone actually pay that much to a 54 review seller. OMG.
<< <i>(Buyer left neg fb: "This guy's a crook. Used someone else's tracking number. Claims he sent without.")
This is the same scam that Dberry reported last month. How do these people get correct tracking numbers? ( Right time & right city) >>
By generating bogus shipping labels. >>
My seller used a tracking number for a delivery to my city that showed delivery a month before I purchased from him. He had to have had access to a shipping database and was able to pick the city he needed. As soon as he posted the bogus tracking number he messaged me that he had posted the wrong number in hopes that I would sit back and wait (his message is what alerted me to check the tracking). The bogus tracking number showed delivery to my city, immediately releasing his paypal funds. An immediate call to paypal resulted in an immediate refund once they saw his scam. Him showing delivery before the actual purchase made it easy for paypal to figure it out.
I now check status of all tracking numbers for my ebay purchases as soon as seller uploads them.
