44-S Walker... worth submitting? opinions welcome.**Grade in**

nwcoastnwcoast Posts: 2,845 ✭✭✭✭✭
Putting the final touches on my first submission and wondering if this Walking Half should go with the group...
I have a handful of other Walking half's and it's tough deciding....
The group has been great in helping me decide on some others so I thought I'd throw this one out there.
Thank you in advance.... and I welcome all opinions....
Grade in at MS65

either you're gonna hit a home run or strike out

    looks like 65 could happen.

i'm not too good on these sometimes from 64-66

Looks closer to 64 than 65, but could really go either way. IMO just too many hits on both the skirt and the eagle's leg to make it a lock 65.

It has really clean fields. Hits on the jaw, sun, and eagle left leg may hold it back. I'd like to see it in hand, but I'd say 64+ or 64 and 65 not impossible.

Nice! It has been dipped. I would say 64...with a 33% chance of a 65.

Yes indeed I would submit it. To me a Walker looks it's best in a PCGS holder when
they're nice and shinny like this one.

I agree with the others - likely a 4, but has a shot at 5.
If it had monster toning it would get a 66 image

Since this is my first submission with my new CC subscription, I could even go Secure Plus, though I'm thinking of not going that route.
Looks like it might be tougher to resubmit down the road if my 'borderline' price jumpers don't make the grade first time...
    Am I mistaken here?

I would send this one in- through caution to the wind and chalk it up to the thrill of collecting

I see the chance of a 65 at greater than 50%- not that my opinion means anything

    Very nice head detail.

    Better than average hand detail.

Given how typically poorly struck the 44-S comes, these nice details will be very much in your favor.

    My guess is a 65.

65 the strike is great for the date, luster looks strong and the fields are very clean

downsides skirt hits, the sun, but they are not enough to keep it from a 65

    I'm on board with 65.
Let's try not to get upset.

The strike is particularly good for the date, the luster is solid, and the fields are relatively clean. I would grade it MS65. If I were you, I would submit it under the cheapest tier possible.

Chatter on skirt lines like this and hit or two on eagle's leg are the norm, rather than the exception on most late date Walkers I've seen in 5 holders, though I'll admit I haven't seen many of them in the last ten years, so it is possible that grading standards have changed.

Imo, the only things that might hold this coin back from a 5 are the chatter on the sun and hit on Miss Liberty's face, which is noticeable. That being said, I'd still submit it. I like the coin.

My only concern was also the sun.I still like it as a 5.

So close to a 65 from those pics. It's worth a shot, would be a great score if it does 5.

Definitely submit it. If it comes back in a 66 holder you can do a victory dance.

65 is much more likely, however.

Can't see it in a 6 holder for reasons I mentioned above re why it may not get into a 5 holder. If you can get this into a 5 holder, you've done very well with in any case, what is an attractive coin.

Smooth and clean with a pretty good strike for a 44-S. I think it has a good chance at a 65.
