    12+.
  • An older guy brought it in just a bit ago, jingling in his pocket with everyday pocket change,
then he whips out an old ANACS Photo cert from 1981... He knew what he had :-)
Bought it as a 15... Love the huge clash mark on the obv...

No kidding. I'm guessing it wont grade problem free.

The sharpness grade would have been Fine in "the good old days" and VF by today's standards. The piece has some scratches that will probably prevent it receiving a grade in a PCGS slab.

If you look on the edge at what I call 4:00 on the obverse you will see an E! It blends in well with the reeding...keen eye up yonder in the thread!

I think it would come back in a PCGS F details cleaned holder from the picture.

Here are pictures of an NGC F15 I sold a couple weeks ago. I think yours might be VF or so details, but I don't think it would get into a problem free holder.

It looks like they "Net" graded the coin for minor problems. Not everyone will agree, but I
would rather they did that than give the coin a bodybag or a problem holder. The whole
system of Net grading works pretty well for early coppers -- why not early silver as well?
  • Might anyone here have a Bolender Book that they can confirm this is a B-9 BB-13 Die state 2 Coin ?

Congrats. It's always better to get it into a problem free holder, even if it is net graded.

I like it and I think much of what the "gennie" people were seeing wouldn't be nearly so visible in hand. Even gems can look pretty trashy if you make the photo big enough.
  • BillJonesBillJones Posts: 34,041 ✭✭✭✭✭
I think that you should be happy that it got into a problem free holder and should not be looking for an upgrade.
