I wont post the grade to see what the consensus is. No cheating. I apparently have a tough time grading these.

This coin does have quite a bit of noise on the neck and scattered around the reverse. Overall I'd guess 63.
<< <i>I think what people are seeing in the centers is the typical weakness of strike, not wear. Color is OK, not white, but not unattractive. Luster is dificult to judge from these photos. I'm not sure what is going on in the field above the eagle's back - maybe an area of die polishing? Enormous coins like this can show a surprising number of abrasions and hits even in gem grades. Determining wear would be easier in hand to look for luster breaks on the high points of Liberty's cheeck, the neck, and the high areas of the feathers. >>
Nothing to do with strike. Discoloration on the cheek appears to be rub, as does the sliding above the eagle.
<< <i>I also happen to believe that a very large number of lightly circulated pieces live in MS holders from both TPGs >>
No doubt - could easily be AU62

You could be right about the cheek, but on 21s those cheeks are really, really round and it might just be the photo. In-hand it would be pretty easy to tell the difference.
<< <i>OK, so I am not crazy. This coin is in a PCGS MS 65 holder >>
FWIW my first thought was 65.

I've just decided that I don't know how to grade these.

Fixed it for ya.
FWIW, I think Peace Dollar grading is a bit different. I cut my teeth on this series and it's really hard for me to apply what I learned to other series - especially buff nickels. I can't tell much difference between a MS64 and a MS67 buff, even with a good loupe and lots of time. A buff with this many hits wouldn't even see an MS grade.
Except for the very nicest examples in 66+/67 grades, almost every Peace Dollar will show tons of uglyness when enlarged like in these photos.
Here's my 65 for comparison:
1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
Grading in this series continues to baffle me...

<< <i>65? Hmmm. I could see 64 but it seems a bit baggy for a 65. It's either a touch generously graded or it must really look nice in-hand. The graders seem to be easier on the 21s than with the low-relief dates from what I've seen.

Thats a beauty ! Way better than the OP coin. Buy the coin, not the label.
I thought this one met my personal standards for eye appeal as a MS 65.
