Stork Love Token - My latest double dime

Below is a neat love token I just received in the mail. It's a pin back, but sadly as is often the case, the pin is broken. image

The images are from the seller. The piece is much more richly toned in hand. I have not shot my own images yet.

    Great piece! 75/76 to 78, the same time period and subject. I wonder if we are seeing the same work from the same engraver?

    Nice Morgan!

    I don't think it's the same person based on the style of the birds on the Morgan. The work on your piece seems a bit more delicate.

    It's more of a stork than a flamingo.

    It looks like there are musical notes on the back of the bird. Perhaps it is just the way the feathers were textured.

    Duh! Of course! That makes sense ... the token was probably used to celebrate a birth in the family.

    These are really nice. The first one appears to show influence from the Japanse prints that were becoming popular at the time.
