I think this roll will go for "stupid money"

Those crazy rolls with non-matching end coins are NO WAY I sear
unsearched and clearly a marketing scam. I can't understand how anyone could fall for this one..
I'd be much less inclined to think this type of roll was unsearched than one with cents on both ends.
    Just my 2 cents...

While i'm sure the rolls are salted and marketed cleverly , can't argue with the feedback.

Looks like enough fun coins are being thrown into the mix to keep customers happy..
So get some common wheats, throw in a mix of other mostly common goodies and sell for a hefty premium...

Thats exactly how it works , you can even buy the shotgun roll twisters on the bay for under 10 bucks.
  • Clearly the rolls have been "searched". This is a twist on the grab bag type of auctions. Seems to be working for this fellow as he has been at it for a while.

Why does Ebay allow this c*ap to be sold without any documentation to the sellers claim that the roll is "unsearched" and purchased from a family in Tennessee?

Bizarre + absolutely crazy. Where's that ebay coin selling watchdog group?

How, precisely, would you obtain such documentation?? How could it possibly authenticate such a roll?? Not arguing that it is a salted roll... just cannot imagine such documentation.

  • Wow. And these buyers submitting negs really expected more??? Ganted the seller plays up the possibilities; however, common sense says not to expect much. The seller is playing on people's greed and they deserve what they get.

This came up after looking at that link , no shortage of sellers playing the same game. Two things strike me as peculiar , those rolls are from different sellers but they almost all have female names and the other thing is the paper rolls themselves, they look identical.I think the using the female name thing is another ploy to sucker people probably.

Im not defending the seller by any stretch , but he's had no negs in the last 12 months and that alone says something to justify the above statement that he is gving them what they want.2000 transactions and no negs is good going by anyones standards.

58 red flags out of 2200 is mathemathically low, but ethically very poor considering the vast majority of Ebay sellers carry feedback ratings of 99.5-100%.
Anyone under 99% like this guy should be seriously suspect. The rating system is skewed by a factor of 10X or more because the majority of people who are
unhappy will not complain or do not yet know they were screwed.

This is my own standard for rating ebay sellers:

100 - probably ok, but still not a guarantee you can't get ripped off. Some scammers pay off the complainers to ensure they stay at 100%
99-99.5 - serious chinks in the armor for anyone with 1,000 FB's or more.
98 - borderline to full blown sheister
    <98 caveat emptor

I think the lowest rating I ever saw with a high FB buyer was around 90%. What school did you go to where the worst students got an A- and the average was A+?
    That's the Ebay school.

You can't cheat an honest man. People who buy these think they're pulling one over on the seller. Oh, boy.

It always seems like ebay is good for this type of stuff, some people like that grab bag style.
The rolls with amazing end roll coins are funny because some sellers have endless rolls like that so any bidder with sense knows it's not random. Maybe that's why the bidders that buy them often give a positive. They got what they bid on and feel they pulled one over on the seller. If they ever try selling the coins they'll find that the damaged or over paid for end coin was probably worth less than they paid.
I don't doubt that some of the key coins that you see in the FBs are fakes. I mean if someone finds an S-VDB or 55-DDO in a roll they might give pos FB before having it slabbed, they don't think that it can be a fake put in as salting because they think they pulled one over on the seller. Who knows LOL!

While it is possible rolls are salted with fake keys, I think it more likely the seller has a buddy leave this type of feedback.
