I just picked up my cards from SCP!

In 1987, I was 14 years old. Baseball and baseball cards were my life. I was popping 87 Fleer, Donruss, and Topps like there was no tomorrow. I had bought my first Beckett and I was planning my retirement with all these sure fire rookies I was pulling out of the 87's.
On the field, the Baseball world became obsessed with the hitting streak of Paul Molitor. In this small market city of Milwaukee was this guy that had had a decent career plagued by injuries, that had burst onto the National spotlight with a 39 game hitting streak that captured the imagination of everyone. Through 30 games, it became bigger and bigger and the story grew. I became obsessed with the story and with finding his Rookie Card. I learned it was all the way back in the 1978 Topps set and was fascinated by the fact that on the same card was the future AL MVP of 1987 and Superstar Alan Trammel. How cool was that? 2 Superstar rookies on one card? Gotta have it! So I bought one for like 20 bucks with the ugliest smudge marks I'd ever seen. But I didn't care. Cards weren't scrutinized that way back then.
As Molitor's hitting streak ended at 39, he was standing in the on deck circle when Rick Manning had a game winning hit to end the game and end the streak. Who seemed the most excited? Paul Molitor. I watched interviews with the guy through the streak. Class act. I really liked the way he handled himself. From that day forward, Paul Molitor had joined Tony Gwynn as my 2 guys that I collected and followed. (Living in San Diego, being a Tony Gwynn fan was a requirement.
As the years passed, I learned more about the legendary smudge on the 78 molitor/Trammel and became obsessed with finding a clean one. The internet didn't exist so I relied on Card shows and shops. Never found a clean one and the one I did was off center.
After I left the hobby for a long time, I have picked up where I have left off and built my Gwynn and Molitor collection and with professional grading the standard it became easier to pinpoint a Gem one, albeit much more expensive. I've been on a quest to find the nicest Molitor RC I could find and I think I finally did it!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
