Another case of same PCGS barcode??

Here it is on HA. Here it is on eBay.

Yes, yes, there is a difference in photo quality and lighting etc. etc. but I don't think any of those factors would miss the splotchy toning on the eBay coin that is not present on the HA coin. Look at the stars on the left half of the coin on HA, and then on eBay. Clearly different coins without a doubt. I think in this case, it's pretty easy to say the eBay one is a fake. Compare the fonts on the slabs, they are different. It's easy to see in "CC" of the text

Different coin, different slab. Compare the position of the "." between the coin number and grade with the bar code.

It is a bummer that buying slabbed coins is no longer a gaurantee of authentic and graded coinsimage

man this is just horrible that we now have to worry about fake slabs and well made ones too!

Yes, also the position of the leading 7 relative to the thick bar below it. Both are shifted to the right on the ebay version.

It's strange - the ebay faker could just use the high resolution image from Heritage and print the label directly from that - then no
    alignment differences....

Notice the entire slab is not shown

Also notice that the coin looks like a cleaned slider, not an MS63.

why isn't there a barcode mobile app, btw? or is there? it probably won't do any good for online stuff, i agree...but it would be great to have at shows. it would make the price guide and coinfacts a lot more accessible.

i actually recall a thread in the past few months that stated the barcodes would be able to be scanned no matter the medium

it sticks out because of the buzz it created

Man, this is out of control! It seems to me this kind of CRIME should not be so hard to track down, just a little police investigation would go a long way. How can this keep happening?

    OK. I'm lost.

    Different Coin.

    Different Slab.

TorinoCobra says the listing was nuked.

    Yet it still exists?

Police won't do it. PCGS could hire a private eye. The ebay sellers need to be visited.

PCGS could do something even better.

    Look out for COLLECTORS!

That is, to help the hobby by providing a photographic image of both the obverse and reverse of the coin, in a database, accessible during a certificate number query. There's not much else they can do besides this. Going after the culprits in the United States seems fun, and expensive. Whereas, if they provide a database accessible during the cert queries, it'll likely be cheaper, and help build better "consumer confidence" with a brand name that is being counterfeited in mass production.
