.
i know the deadline for having coins like this listed raw is rapidly approaching, but i just couldn't not get a second opinion on a coin like this, even if it is from a larger seller

the place i am at is 50/50, coin looks good in some regards and not so good in others

could just report it and let the CCW make the decision but i prefer to not just go around reporting items for the sake of reporting, especially if i am mistaken

without further ado

It's real if that's what you're asking. Looks plugged and cleaned.

Yes, I agree. It looks like it has been plugged and it has definitely been cleaned. At $5 grand that is a very bad buy.

This 1796 dollar was lightly cleaned years ago, but has a lot of "meat."

This 1797 is about as original as you can get.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

It is real. The right obverse field has been smoothed and it is professionally holed/plugged at 12 o'clock on the obverse.

<< <i>That seller listed a blatant fake a couple weeks ago. Forgot what the coin was...I think an 09SVDB? Anyway, the NGC slab was real but cracked open and the real coin replaced with a fake one. I wouldn't trust this dealer too much, seems shady. >>

If you're thinking of the 55DDO, it was not this seller.

Oops, my bad. I guess it was another high volume transaction seller from eBay

Before seeing the other replies, my impression was holed/plugged, work on the fields, cleaning. Hardly a bargain.

Double YUCK! I find nothing redeeming about that coin other than it is authentic. It has so many problems - holed and plugged, heavily cleaned and the rims look like they have been bounced off a hard concrete floor a few times.
