<< <i>Dragon that is a nice 22, which brings me to ask if the chatter is on the plastic, or the coin?
Steve >>
The chatter is on the coin. I believe the lustre, color and eye appeal accounts for the grade.

<< <i>Majority of all toned peace dollars I see are from 1922-25. Assuming others have noticed this trend, any ideas why this is? >>
Probably because they are by far the most common dates and exist in the largest quantities.

That's what I figured, makes sense.
Even some 1927 and the occassional 28. 34 D is also available with supreme team toning

A little numbers game
1922+1923+1924+1925(p,d,s)=168+million coins
1921+1926+1927+1928=1934+1935=24+million coins
beside they tend to be cheaper so people have less to lose when they play with them
Also I will post a NT so at least there will be one on this thread

Oh please...go call EVERY morgan toner a moose at the same time that you bash any color on a peace dollar. Like the ATers couldnt do whats on morgans if they can do what they do to peace dollars. And like there wouldnt be 50 of each of these same toners if it were true. There were no toners 50 years ago so I guess there are none now.
Lance.
But I like 'em.

You have clearly have me confused for someone who doesn't think that the Toning market market as a whole is ridiculous be it Morgans/peace/Franklin. I would bet big money that you can't find a post where I call any toner a moose. While tone can enhance the eye appeal of a coin I find that most collectors fall into two categories/
1: collectors that love their coins and prefer them to have attractive natural skin that sometimes takes the from of a colorful patina
2: collectors that love their colors and could care less the medium they come in or the source/origination.
IMO It is the second group that encourages the doctors to play around as they compete for the excess capital being spent after the liquidation of said buyer's comic collections that is unfettered by the burdens of rent after maintaining ones residence in their mothers basement. While that last part might be a bit in jest; I don't see people who ignore the fact the peace dollars tend to turn gold>brown>black unless they were stripped or contaminated first as a value add to the hobby. While there are exceptions to every rule and silver will do crazy things from time to time, statistics says it doesn't appear to happen enough to support a market until people started pulling them out of thin air which is still fine but that doesn't mean the hobby as a whole has to embrace them.
By the way I thought my OP was about as non-dismissive as I can get on the issue

There are people who have watched coins do that over time in their presence. I have see it happen to jewelry. Have you watched any coin doctors produce anything like that? If yes how many times? Otherwise I dont see how you can talk about statistics on this matter.

No not all of them just your avatar and a few of the ones in this thread but it looks like you are wising up based on your last post. This forum is about learning and your are doing well. Look at etexmike's dollars for some top shelf coins.
Man, I hope I don't fall into crypto's #2 category. I ran away from home so I knew the basement part isn't true for sure.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Mooses? Bahaha i wouldnt submit those coins they look like moose crap, like a moose took a dump on the coin then got submitted.
It is expected for your name mumu.
You apparently dont know jack about peace toners, your 21 has no color and neither does your avatar. Stop acting like an authority.
"Note that I am of the very strong opinion that any 1921 Peace dollar...indeed any Peace dollar...that has any rainbow colors
(blue, red, green, etc) is absolutely artificially toned."
Then the 1926 coinfacts has this PCGS beauty.

I am hardly jealous of your collection of oven-roasted monstrosities. And trust me, you had nothing to do with the 'making' of any of my coins.
