OT- Will Be Going in for an Operation

Thursday May 24th will be my last day on here for a while. I have a hip replacement operation scheduled for Tuesday, May 29th. My computer at home is dead due to virus so I don't know when I will be back on line after next week. I just want to say I hope everone has a nice summer and keep the hobby running until my return.

Yes I dread the fact I am being operated on but I am tired of hurting. I should have done this a year ago. It took having to use a cane to walk to get me to do it.

Good luck on your surgery. Focus on your recovery especially the physical therapy part. This will help you get back on your feet quicker than anything else. image

It's a piece of cake, Ron. Had mine done on 12 December 2011, in recovery for one day, transferred to rehab, out of rehab in four days, recovered at home with PT for a week and back to work. A total of 13-days. No more pain and no more sleepless nights.

    All the best to you!

    Cheers,

All medical care involves a careful consideration of the risks and benefits.

When you are suffering like you seem to have been
the potential benefits may be greater than the risks and
    you procede along.

Luck plays no role in surgery IMO.

    Be your own advocate.

Learn what to expect and if things are not going as planned OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND MAKE SURE IT DOES.

Good luck with your surgery - the 3 people I know who have had it were all thrilled at the results... and they say you MUST do the physical therapy with no shortcuts. image

Good luck! And why the replacement?

They wanted to put a new one in me last year and I said no. Figured 39 was too young, but LCPD can come back and bite you...35 years later with the horrible arthritis.

Good Luck and God be with you and your doctors. You might ask the hospital if they have an
iPad and WiFi so you can keep up and fill us in. Most of them do now a days or borrow one and
remember to keep it charged up.

    Take Care

    Best wishes for the surgery.
2 friends of mine have had this done and one of them, 54 years old, has been out playing basketball the last 3 years after having it done.
He goes in for the other side soon.

Both guys have handled it well, so you should too.

For the computer....try going online to Microsoft Security Essentials linked for you and see if that can help.
It's free, so it may well be worth a try.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. Someone asked why the replacement. Doctor said hip was eat up with arthritis. Don't know if a computer is on my budget at the moment as disability pay is not a lot of money, 70% at this time I think. I broke down and sprung for a new matress and box spring set today, thought it might come in handy over the next few weeks or month. I will be on as i can sneak on next week. I do this from work but will be working with my replacement all week and have to watch my P's and Q's.

God Bless all of you and hope to be back real soon.
