what, for you, is most fun....?

What is the most fun coin (variety/error/type/denomination, etc.) to find or search for even though there may not be any significant value attached?

I'm going to say the obvious! The Lincoln cent. Com'on for 50 cents, (a roll) one can find, who knows how much a valuable treasure? Even if you would find any wheatie in that roll, it would have been worth it. and for only 50cents! WOW! My best finds in cent searching two, mind you, 24D"s. Years apart, both were in about a fine condition. I sold both already for about 40$ each.

I enjoy the hunt for Mercury Dime Varieties. Many of them are rare and very difficult to find, especially near Top Pop...but since the demand is fairly low, prices also stay fairly low.

Several months or maybe a year or so ago I developed a strong desire for draped bust coinage. It has kind of created a problem for me because I am not a high end collector ( in other words I have a champagne taste now on a beer budget). I think I can manage to get a few of the more common circulated coins though.

The most fun for me is cherrypicking a variety that is hard to find.image

The most fun for me is simply "discovery". Whether its a high grade coin, a variety, an error or simply a point of fact in history, this is what makes it fun for me.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I agree with 19Lyds--the chance of finding a "discovery piece" for the Mercury Dime series is so much'
fun. I thank Greg, Tony and Dimeman for opening a new door in a house I had lived in for years. Cool room
    with much new stuff!!

I'm in the cent search mode currently...as was stated before, at 50c, it's a cheap thrill that may lead to an extraordinary find.

Another cheapie way,and the wow factor can arrive is the old "Coinstar" search! What one can find and at the cost of 00. image

Finding the unexpected. I went through a friend's "old coins," 99% of which were junk.

Going through about 30 Mercury Dimes, I found an 1865 3 Cent Nickel in the middle of them.
Going through some environmentally damaged to maybe VG cents to nickels circa 1900, I found a 1908-S IHC which looked like it had been a roadbed forever, but had VF details. I soaked it in olive oil and got most of the crud off the coin.

    Things like the above.

I still enjoy finding the occasional wheat cent in pocket change :-)
