It is called a Struck ON Laminated Planchet, which is much rarer than a Lamination Error.

I am really into eye appeal and I very much liked the graphic nature of this piece or should I say Peace.

Looks like PMD to me, but nobody else seems to think so.

What leads you to believe it was struck on a planchet that had delaminated? I don't see design elements in the lamination, but rather a reasonably sharp demarcation of a delamination after the coin was struck. Help me understand. Thanks.

Edited to add ... nice coin!

The reason you know that it happened before the strike is because the edges of the lamination are rounded into the lamination. There is also metal flow on the "N" in IGWT

No design elements in the lamination because it is deep.

And also PCGS says it is .......

I would think it could have possibly been struck on a planchet that had a piece of slag embedded which fell out prior to striking.

Here is my condor token that was struck on a flawed planchet. At least it looks that way to me.

I just keep thinking "it's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye...".

By the way, extremely cool coin.

I love the story of Phineas Gage, thanks for posting it.

Maybe this coin should be called the "Phineas Gage Example"
