What the @ell, thoght were in a recession?? »

Guess were out of the recession, a PSA 9 1993 SP Jeter just sold for a little over $900, what the hell? Don't understand the recent run up in prices here but I have to say that I love it, hope it lasts for a while!!

  • All I can say is that in no way, shape, or form have I been getting any kind of a discount recently on the stuff I collect.
Full price if I'm lucky, full price and then some if I'm not.

Can't believe it's been twenty years since Derek Jeter entered the league, or Kurt Kobain's death. Where did the time go ?

It's kinda weird and there are still some things that you can't give away. I can't figure it out?

I know that for a lot of 1950's common cards that I was buying for $15-$20 in 2008-2009, I am now having to pay $30. That may not seem like a lot, but it adds up pretty quick and it is a huge increase in percentage.

Its not just the graded stuff. I have been collecting Peyton Manning cards since 1998 and can honestly say that with few exceptions, his cards have been harder to get at a decent price lately, although some of that is due to him being in the news a lot.

If it is a quality card of a big time HOF'er....expect to pay large. I'm noticing that high end for the grade cards are going through the roof. I actually know before I bid if I even have a chance or not. Some folks have been putting some wild snipes that are beyond belief. It is actually a sellers market right at this moment....which is just absolutely amazing and completely unexplainable. I am shocked by this turn of events in like the last 7 months. "AMAZING HOBBY" that has proven that it can bounce back from just about anything going on in the economy. This may be the most important time ever in card collecting.

I told you guys before, BIN's are leading the way. Dealers are not going to give away good vintage PSA 8's in the 50's, 60's and early 70's for those cheap cheesy auctions anymore. You want the card??? You are going to have pay for it you cheap, auction hunting, cheesy bargain hunting feebayers. You can see it all day long on VCP. chaz

  • Same explosion in the RC market. I buy up as many as possible, starting with Brock and ending with Jeter in terms of years.
I truly believe there are some that are clearly viewing collectibles in general as an alternative to getting blasted
every 5 years or so in the stock market. I personally invest as much, if not more, into collectibles each month as I
do in financial instruments. Some have said if you view it as an investment, you shouldn't be in the card market. Why ? It's both
  • The market has been up for the past several months.

It has little to do with "investment", it has everything to do with people having more money to spend and feeling more confident about buying things they want.

It actually sold for $900 BIN best offer; not $1250. Not sure why ebay lists it that way, but when you look at the listing itself you will see the actual price.
