Is it worth plucking G coins from circulation?

tneigtneig Posts: 1,505 ✭✭✭
I'm sorting through circulation coins and penny roles, etc.

I'll come across some older G/F coins that have a .30ct, .90ct, up to a few dollars or so value in the red book. Mostly the prices are for AU/MS grades, but I'm finding the lesser grades. Are these lesser grades really worth saving or putting in flips, or just the copper bucket? I'm assuming there are tons of them and no one really wants them.

thanks

i have mason jars filled with them. someone here has trash buckets filled with them. it doesn't hurt to toss them in a bucket and forget about them for a while

That's the best thing about this hobby," You " get to decide if you want or not, despite the value! Collect what you want, not what the next guy wants!image

Personally I say no. Illegal to melt and the 2x2 costs more than the coin is worth.

Edit to add that everyone put back into circulation saves the government or us twice it's value too.

I figure if you aren't collecting the stuff and can't make a profit on it via ebay, it is best left in circulation.
