Wondering about an Ebay listing

I was asked to post this link here, rather than over at the PSA forum. I sort of have mixed feelings about the listing, in that the seller has a feedback score of 69 (1 negative), but doesn't seem to specialize in sports cards at all. The card's registration number is fairly old (begins with 02) and is not currently registered to anybody. Also, the scan of the card seems to be of a higher resolution than photos with other listings from the same seller. Finally, the Buy It Now price is lower than several other recently sold PSA 8 copies of the same card.
I'm not the seller of this card, but having read about some of the monkey business that has gone on with strawperson Ebay sellers and reslabbed cards, I thought I'd just put it out there.

You can always ask for a photo/scan with an identifying piece of information. Sometimes I'll ask for a photo with a slip of paper with their EBAY ID written on it.
Most of time, they are accommodating if it's legit. Good Luck, Very Nice Card

<< <i>I don't see anything wrong with that seller either. Seller states in his about me page that he is a broker of sorts selling things on ebay for others who don't have internet access. He also states in the auction how his client is firm on price. Granted you are dealing with a story that seems like a reach but in that area of SC (1/2 hour from Charleston) there is a sense of the land that time forgot (there are numerous areas of SC that still use rotary phone service). As always if you buy, use a method of payment that gives you the most protection if you are worried about an auction going sideways. >>
+1, especially the land time forgot comment.

Part of me doubts that anybody would go to that much trouble for less than $300, but at the same time, that's still a lot of money for a single hockey card.
I think it went for less than it usually does because this person won't ship to Canada, where a lot of the collectors of this card probably reside. If you cut all of those bidders out of the auction, it's not going to get top dollar.

The OP had posted this question in the "PSA Set Registry Forum" and I directed him to post in this forum as he would receive more direction here. That is all......

I didn't win it...I'm not sure what happened--it somehow went for $233.50. Weird.
I'm not upset--if I'd had a week to ponder purchasing the card at that price, I might have pulled the trigger, but there are 98 PSA 8 Sittler rookies out there. In the meantime, I have a PSA 8(OC) that I'm rather fond of; maybe someday I'd be interested in spending $300-400 replacing it solely to boost my set rating a full 0.445 points, but not today.
