Are you sure it's genuine? It looks off.

If it is real, I think it will be flat. Surfaces look hazy/smoky.

I've got dual monitors and it looks different on both of them. I wouldn't even know which way to guess. Almost brown on one though.

Here is a pic that shows what the color really looks like. It really does look like a rusty piece of steel. Obviously a dug piece. His pic looked nickle colored with just some hints of toning and a bit darker streak as well when I viewed it on my monitor. The scratches are on the flip.
I filed a SNAD. He just says my monitor needs adjusting- NO refunds. I was surprised considering he has 100% rating.
    Thanks,Richard

Juiced photo a bit, although if seller has their camera and monitor all jacked up to start with then there you go, might not even be able to tell the difference. Does look like crapola though.

I don't think it's been dug , nickels are notoriously bad condition coming out of the ground even after a few years. The composition hasnt changed at all so id find it very difficult to believe this was a dug coin, theres just too much detail and fine surfaces for that.Whats strange is in the auction pic it does look suspicious , especially the stars behind libertys head,in the pic provided later in the thread they look ok..weird.

My initial impression was that the seller's images make it appear to have been dug out of the ground. However, I hadn't thought it would be quite so obvious in-hand.

Even from the original photos, I could tell the coin had been in the ground. It's most deffinately a metal detector recovery. I have bunches of V nickels that I have found that look just like it.

First ebay sided with seller. I appealed and had them look at this forum with my pic. They overturned in my favor right away. Kudos to ebay for getting right in the end. A shame it had to come out of their pocket not this sellers.
