So sick of Ebay's ("antics") (rhymes with "cap")...let's boycott!

Seriously. I just tried to list something and I wasn't able to finish listing unless I put up a credit card number as security. Their user agreement says they can take $2.000 from me at any time.
As a casual seller, I'm really sick of Ebay. They are getting more and more expensive and they keep everything in the buyer's favor.
Let's strike. List everything here on the BST area. Or take it over to Bonanza.com...I hear that can work OK.
Really, I'm tired of paying more to get less. There is a point where access to thousands of buyers will mean access to thousands of potential feedback extortionists. Can't we do something???!!!!

Please post a link that you are referring to: "eBay says they can take $2,000 from me at any time," because I don't believe it. I believe a cc on file has been an eBay requirement for years, if you want to sell.
Now PayPal can hold your funds for various reasons, but not eBay.
"To protect against the risk of liability, eBay has at times requested, and may continue to request, that PayPal hold seller funds based on certain factors, including, but not limited to, selling history, seller performance, riskiness of the listing category, or the filing of an eBay Buyer Protection claim. PayPal has held, and will continue to hold, seller funds pursuant to the terms of the PayPal User Agreement, PayPal policies and any other agreement entered into between PayPal and its users."

<< <i>The main problem is they have no real competition. So they do as they please. I dont see any real competition anytime in the near future. Good luck with your boycott attempt, its the cyber worlds market like it or not. >>
There is plenty of competition out there. The problem is many people have a strange sense of loyalty to ebay or are to cowardly to try something new. If the board memebers banded together and choses one of the alternative sites. The chosen site would prosper.

Rubbish , absolute rubbish , how is it in any way cowerdly to use the # 1 auction site on the planet ? Only a raving lunatic would even think Ebid or Wemsy or any of these other dead sites are better.Sure that site may benefit but a seller wont , not in a million years.
But in reality the things your complaining about is what make "Buyers" flock to eBay.
Sorry but I have sold about 50 items on eBay for every one on the BST and have never heard of the other place you mentioned.
other kinds of collectibles.

I have ....... ALWAYS...... used a dinky acct to link to my VISA.
NEVER let your card access an IMPORTANT account.
If you already have a vulnerable account, pop over to a nearby credit union and open a couple hundred dollar account and get a debit card.
Then change your eBay and Paypal account info.
Hassle? Sure.
When you're dealing with untrusted people, keep all advantages on your side.
even went as far as opening a second Checking account, but
backed off after hearing that a buddy of mine got hacked somehow
though his ebay account for like 1500 bucks. I love the BST here
never had a problem (allthough i've never sold there, only bought,
but if and when the time comes to sell, the BST will be a venue
here, no fee's, personal checks accepted, no premiums, old school
just like the old days tranactions, I DON'T NEED 2 hour delivery service
and I don't mind if some one needs 10 days to clear a check.
The BST is great, so is teletrade, but expect the premiums.

The main things I buy on Ebay now are road maps. I collect Chevron road maps 1948-1965 and
Shell road maps 1972-1974. Their covers are beautiful watercolor artwork.
