... I can say definitively that this '44-S is not a steel cent. I found this in a bag of wheaties and about had a heart attack. It looks so much like a real steel cent- it even looks like it has rust on it. Sadly, though, it is non-magnetic. I'm thinking someone plated a copper cent with zinc, just for funzies, long ago...

That's exactly what it is... It has to be zinc-plated, because you can put it in a lineup with other poor quality steelies, and not be able to pick it out...
