Strange Lincoln cleaning question

I know coins should not be cleaned , but one glance at this one and i think you'll agree something needs done. I don't know if acetone or mineral oil or what is best or what the green actually is , theres a lot going on with this coin , first glance it looks like PMD but it isnt.Whats best to clean it up a bit ?

truly you're not out much here as the enviro-damage is on the extreme side
    have you tried boiling it?
the heat of boiling opens up metals pores so it can release whats on it
i've heard vinegar is ok on copper as it's slightly acidic

maybe put a vinegar mix to boil it in???

myself...copper...i gave up long ago...it doesn't like me playing with it at all

one note though...find a couple crappy cents to experiment with first as i'm seeing you do have care n concern for this one...image

toss it in mineral oil while you see what works on the crappy ones...image

I pulled it out of a roll about an hour ago , at first i thought PMD and finding nothing else interesting i took a 2nd look. I'll try the boiling thing tomorrow as ive no verdigone yet anyway, can't do any harm. Thanks again Eddy , that's a good idea. The piece of metal missing is deep , looks gouged out at first but the rim is perfect which i thought odd , then i seen the letters are there where the surface should be.Theres a crack through the building , hard to see in the pic and surplus metal at the steps.Ill see what it looks like when it's tidied up a bit.

    btw
    conserving is not doctoring
personally i'm glad some early copper was while it makes me sad to see some that weren't
best of luck to ya too
    of note
the right side of the building...is that smooshed or raised?

Thanks Teddy , i keep these oddities in a folder special , good to know i wont be a coin Dr : ) The right side of the building is raised metal , i suspect its some of the missing chunk from above ? Right above that you'll see the crack running upwards to the left, center of the top of the building.

Not sure but I think it's a lamination error.

Maybe the top piece got peeled off and you see the raised letters where it was. That lower right corner is also probably a lamination that hasn't been peeled off but it's lifted up where it looks raised and continues up where it looks like a crack.

Just my thoughts on it image

Since it's already ENV damaged there's probably not much to be lost if you can clean that green junk off of it.

Certainly an oddity.... oil soaking takes a long time for results - if any - to appear. I would go first with acetone, followed by alcohol and a hot water spray rinse - a pressure spray if available. Cheers, RickO

looks like a few odd die chips and then struck-through error, possibly a lamination peel. Interesting multiple error coin.

Acetone soak should remove the verdigris and contaminants, but there will be dark areas where it used to be...
