"A method [of recoloring cents] employed by several collectors (and dealers) of the older generation was that of wrapping up the coin in a small piece of flannel and, after attaching it to sort of a string belt, wearing it around the wait next to the skin for a matter of a few weeks. Dr. French used to say that this method was more efficacious in winter than in summer -- winter underclothing holds the sweat better. The underclothing should of course under no circumstances be removed or changed until a satisfactory color has been achieved."
