Junior Seau Dead at 43

This is sad!!!!!

NFL legend Junior Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside, CA ... and a law enforcement source at the scene tells us cops believe he shot himself.

Seau was 43-years-old ... and leaves behind 3 kids and an ex-wife.

Cops are currently at Seau's home -- located in San Diego County -- and were seen talking with a man who was inside the house and appeared distraught.

We're told Seau sent text messages to his ex-wife and 3 kids yesterday saying, "Love you." We're told they all responded and didn't suspect anything was wrong. We're told he last saw his kids 3 weeks ago.

Sources close to Seau tell us family members didn't notice any signs of depression in recent weeks.

    Absolutely terrible.
Didn't he make an attempt before, running his car off the road?

    From TMZ.......

<< <i>11:45 AM PDT -- Cops will be giving a news conference about the situation any moment -- we will be streaming the audio LIVE.

11:33 AM PDT -- Law enforcement sources tell us ... Seau died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Back in 2011, former NFL star Dave Duerson shot himself in the chest ... and explained in his suicide note that he wanted his brain donated to a research center because he believed the blows he took to the head during his football career caused him to become mentally impaired.

11:27 AM PDT -- We're told a 911 call came in around 10:00 AM. No word on who made the call.

11:26 AM PDT -- The North County Times is reporting Seau's body was discovered by his housekeeper.

11:23 AM PDT -- The coroner just arrived on scene.

11:20 AM PDT -- The San Diego Chargers have posted a tweet saying, "We don’t have any information right now on the Junior Seau situation. We pray he's ok." >>

A buddy lived near the accident and posted a photo of the skid marks going over the curb. Long story short, it didn't look like an "accident".

Very sad news indeed. Living in San Diego many years everyone seem to love Junior Seau. Never got to meet him in person but he had his own restaurant and he was a great linebacker who was respected for his worth ethic, RIP Junior Seau.

One of my favorites growing up and played the game the way it was meant to be played. He was a mainstay in the community of Oceanside, training many of the high school players and young kids in the offseason. Terrible he went out the way he did, seems like it was over a woman.
  • Here to pay my respects and recognize this great but troubled athlete/human being.

May he find peace where he is now.

Yes, shame on people for digging through their boxes to make money off of a guy's recent death. Over 1000 new items listed since his death, compared to maybe a dozen new items per day otherwise. Heartless greed.
  • I bought his inscriptions for $8 a couple years ago. It was worth maybe $10 before he died now it is a $75 card. Not selling it, He will never be doing any signings after going in the Hall in 2014. It will probably be solid $50 plus card forever now. Sad that he killed himself. He beat up on Women which makes him a Bad Guy in my book. Not one of my favorites. He probably had Money Problems like Dave Duerson.

  • << <i>He probably had Money Problems like Dave Duerson. >>

He probably also had CTE like Dave Duerson.
  • Duerson also went from being very wealthy to losing it all and declaring bankuptcy.
  • That's the third time I've heard Junior's mom, that's crushing to hear her pain. Very sad.
