My dad (1904-1989) told me that before he got married in 1929 that he saved 20 gold $20 dollar coins for a start in marriage to my mom. He started working for a printing company in 1925 and when he got $20 saved he got a $20 gold coin at the bank to put back for the marriage. I asked if he saved any and he said they all went for stuff like groceries and rent. I always wondered what treasurers were in that group of twenty.
