Greatest Ebay Seller

I just found the greatest ebay seller ever. I purchased a 2004 Yankees Classics Classic Scripts Auto of Gaylord Perry BIN $5.99 with Free Shipping.

He sent the item UPS Ground. At UPS.COM it shows a 1 pound pachage cost $12.12.

The card came in a Medium UPS Box, Marked 1 pound weight.

This guy is not making any money.

I'm fairly certain he's not paying a dime towards the cost of that UPS shipping..

  • It looks like his employer paid the price. He works at Sotheby's INC in New York.

Still, receive a $5.99 paymnet and go with $12.12 for shipping?

  • The Sotheby's Auction House in New York. They sell fine art according to Wikipedia. This Gaylord Perry Auto is now fine art..I collect art!!!!!

When I sent out UPS from work we had a deal of 88% off on second day service. So if that is the same deal it ran him a buck and half to send.
  • I know that we had one guy at work who used to sell on ebay and would use our FedEx account and also send everything Priority Mail on the company's dime. Could not figure out why we had to refill our postage machine so much. ;o) Needless to say he does not do it anymore.

UPS gives a massive break to people who ship quite often. Like was mentioned early, many companies receive breaks upwards of 75% or more off regular freight charge. I guess UPS figures they have a truck/plane/boat/horse going somewhere with a half empty cargo load doesnt make sense, so they make some of it up in bulk
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

in my earliest days of eBaying, i used UPS to ship goods to my customers at a considerable discount.

of course, there's that whole week of waiting if you live on the opposite side of the map.

imagine all the ripping i'd get in the Feedback Ship Time category if i did that today. image
