    << <i>How is David Wright? >>

NEW YORK -- The Mets say David Wright has been cleared to play by a hand specialist who examined the third baseman's broken right pinkie.

Wright sat out games on Tuesday and Wednesday after learning he broke his finger diving back to a base Monday night.

He was examined by a hand specialist for the second straight day Thursday. The Mets said in a statement the team's No. 3 hitter was cleared to resume baseball activities "as tolerated."

Wright's status for the opener of a series in Philadelphia will be determined before the game Friday.

The Mets were 4-0 before Wright sat out two straight losses. He is hitting .583 (7 for 12) with a homer and four RBIs

Ike Davis and Jason Bay each go 1 for 4 and significantly raise their batting averages!

BUT, they had 4 RBIs between them in a 6-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves. The Mets are already 4-0 against the Braves this year.

Johan Santana has had some tough luck thus far. In the four games he started, he gave up one run or less in three of those starts ... and his record is 0-2.

In those 3 starts, he pitched 16 2/3s innings and gave up only 10 hits.

Yeah Tim ... it was a good win. MAN, JOHAN is having unreal bad luck!

After today, in the FIVE games he has started, he gave up one run or less in 4 of those starts ... and still has an 0-2 record.
In those 4 starts, he pitched 22 2/3s innings and gave up only 12 hits and 2 earned runs.

THAT'S A 0.79 ERA in those 4 games and his record in those games is 0-1.

    Tough game.

    Niese pitches six scoreless.

They take him out for a pinch hitter and blow a 2-0 lead the next inning.

They score TWO in the top of the ninth for a 4-2 lead!

Then GIVE UP SIX in the bottom of the 9th.
