One of the most amazing patches I have seen in a while.

Link to Card

This product seems to have some really nice patches.

Also saw one for Ivan Rodriguez that was a big portion of the W for the Nationals.

I personally prefer the one on the back of Bobby Petrino's motorcycle.

Wouldn't it be so much nicer if they just left above the patch white and let Gary sign directly on the card. Just my opinion.

I think he is talking about the auto being on a sticker instead of the card. It would look better on the card instead of the silver sticker. Still and awesome card.

I don't think Gary Carter was in a state of health to be able to sign anything when this was being printed.

I generally hate the sticker patch concept, although, in many cases like Carter and other deceased athletes, it will allow for autos of their cards for many years to come as I am sure Topps generally has a pretty good supply of almost every player featured.

Wow --- hit 400.00 with 6 days to go --- I think this is a great looking card but I would rather upgrade my 1975 Topps 620 from an 8 to a 9 with that kind of money

That is one beautiful patch/auto card!

Some of the artisitc work the card companies are doing is really good while others are not so much. This example is definetly in the upper tier of beautifully created modern. Though the price is getting a little steep for my interest (400.00 with 6 days to go).

What patch would that be from? It looks like a patch commemorating the 1986 World Series. I'd guess it is more likely to be from 2001 (15 years) or something like that. Did Carter atually wear a jersey with that patch?
  • It was actually the 25th anniversary of the Mets in 1986, so the team wore this patch that year. Makes it even cooler.
