GONZALES, LA (AP) -
An Ascension Parish grand jury indicted five men on multiple counts murder in an alleged plot to steal gold coins from a collector's home.
Reports indicate Michael Aikens, Travis Moore, Devon James, Bernard James and Rolondo Durrell Stewart were each charged with three counts of first-degree murder Wednesday.
Moore was arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty Thursday. Judge Ralph Tureau set an April 17 hearing date for Moore. The other defendants are awaiting arraignments.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said Robert Irwin Marchand, 74, and his stepson, Douglas Dooley, 50, were found dead in the Marchands' home near Gonzales on Feb 18. Shirley Marchand, 72, died March 2.
The Marchands and Dooley were found with their throats slashed and there were no signs of forced entry into the home.
A safe containing gold coins worth an estimated $500,000 was stolen from the residence. It was found two days later at a park in Livingston Parish. The bottom of the safe had been torched open and most of the coins had been stolen.
Investigators later located several tools believed to have been used to rip open a safe stolen from the Marchands' home.
Police said the tools were found inside an SUV registered to Devon James. The SUV was found at James' girlfriend's home in the Baker-Zachary area. Police said the girlfriend is not being charged.

We were considering calling to see if they were selling the Biz and I did some research online and found this video from last year:

I glad they were caught. I don't ever wish something like this would happen, but I just wish this would have happened in the state of Texas instead, that way they would have an express lane pass to the front of "the chair" line.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
The trial may be swift. If they are sentenced to death for their crime, it could be a decade or more. Nothing swift about that.
Let Paul Kersey pay them a visit.

Did you miss the part where it said "grand jury indicts"?
I'd be as mad as you if they were out and about because they sold someone a "self defense" claim.

You gonna go there, because that's really a disgusting thing to say.
I'm not saying that what these guys did doesn't deserve justice, but to use this to vent political ideaology, that's just low class.
And by low class I mean no class.

I agree....we shouldn't hang people on Sunday. Wait until Monday morning, then stretch 'em.

Nothing said in this thread comes close to 3 innocent people having their throats slashed.

You do realize that there must be sufficient evidence to arrest and file charges. Sufficient evidence is not a bunch of race baiters going on TV and demanding an arrest or worse yet offering a $10000 reward, dead or alive. I'm pretty sure it's a crime for a private citizen or group to offer a reward for the killing or capture of another private citizen. Where are the arrests for this crime? That would require an AG to actually care about upholding the law.

Amen to that!

If someone breaks into your house under the mistaken impression that you have valuables there, I'm not sure a safety deposit box is going to help you very much.

I'm not taking sides, but there may be more to the whole Martin slaying that the media represents, and there are claims that he attacked the shooter. I don't know the truth, and I wonder if anyone will ever know the truth. With this said, I think the poster was comparing these allegations to the crimes allegedly committed by the five in the mug shot. Regardless the death of any person is tragic.

I had the same thought. Moreover, I think certain politicians should stay out of this instead of using this as publicity stunt for personal gain. If true (i.e. unprovoked shooting), it is a sad story. Nevertheless, I think everyone is trying to make this a race issue when I don't necessarily see it as such. When you see someone dressing in obscure clothing at night, it looks suspicious to me regardless of their race (and no, I am not suggesting that this justifies shooting someone). Now if the allegations of self defense are true, then Zimmerman should sue the media.
