Platinum Proof Eagles

I have some platinum proof eagles from 1999 to 2008, dont know whether to hold onto them or sell. Anybody have any predictions on how these coins will do in the future.

Your guess will probably be as good as anyone else. Unfortunately this hobby of ours is not a science image

Can you put the money to better use? Are you worried about them going down in value? If your answer is no to both, hold on to them. Otherwise sell them and do not look back.

I do have a couple of comments/observations. If you bought these from 1999 through 2008, how do you figure you've done from an investment perspective? Poorly? About average? Pretty good?

Past performance is no guarantee of future returns but consider that the series is no longer being produced. It will now take more work to complete a set from scratch than at any time in the past.

Platinum is not in plentiful supply nor is it expected to become plentiful any time soon. Unless you simply need the money, I'd be interested to know if you have any better ideas for a medium to long term investment.

I wouldn't part with 2004, 2005 or 2008 for melt but other than that unless they're PCGS PR70s they're pretty much melt. image This may bode well down the road, however. Who knows how many 2002s hit the melting pot 'cause they're not a premium date?

The 2008 Plat Proofs are that keys to the series and worth well over spot.

The 2004's are worth a bit over spot as well.

You did very well with the '08's!

No dramatic price increase in my lifetime. I do collect them though.
