To THUNDERDAN

That you have not posted a retraction about your recent post about buying a card from SN, or at least some kind of mea culpa, tells me much about you! I guess you think you can post as you did and think it has no consequences to the offended party. Steve Novella buys and sells for a living...you posted his name and that he (in your mind) wronged you with charging you $5 for shipping a $177 card...which BTW was clearly stated in the listing.

Most readers merely graze new topics and they do not follow up on additional postings, thus, it is pretty clear that there could well be those who might not ever buy or consign to Novella thinking he is ripping people off with unfair shipping charges. Clearly you DID NOT intend your post as a joke, as you were callous enough to include WTF? after your compaint to the boards. Not too mention the childish list of possible actions you should consider taking against him.

I have reviewed the thread and nowhere do you indicate any regret, actually you continue with one post which had no relevance to the subject line. This is NOT a laughing matter, you have harmed this man without merit...that you perhaps think you can hide behind the hopeful thought that the topic will merely fall off the radar, off the bottom of the page, and simply disappear will not provide you any cover.

Again, Novella does this for a living, not a once in a while thing. He has been in this business well in excess of 20 years. It's crap like you posted that cause harm (intentional or not), but YOU own the post. How easy it is for bomb throwers like you to hide behind their keyboards and think nothing will come of what you post.

Time for you to man-up, find some balls and post a retraction and set things right.

What say you Dan?

His thread was meant as a joke to mock people like you that care so much about shipping charges that they feel the need to post about it on message boards. I would say it worked. I would guess that Dan's collection just about trumps anybody's on this board and he couldn't give three craps about paying $5, $10 or $20 in shipping for a card he needs.

Pull your pad out, change it, and realize his thread was a complete JOKE mocking recent posts on the boards.

If your seriously that uptight about things such as this, maybe you should refrain from viewing the boards.

Nearly everyone but you realized immediately this was a joke, given the outrageous hyperbole. It was meant to mock blowhards that come on these boards, start threads and whine about something related to their eBay purchase--usually shipping. Even after all the other smart a$$ responses from others (including my own), you still thought I was serious. Either you've never read or seen these threads, or you're just not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I honestly don't care about shipping charges. I buy what I buy. Whatever the shipping charge is I pay without much thought. Steve, seeing this thread probably thanks to you, refunded me $5. I immediately sent him back $5 explaining the situation and apologized if he was offended in any way. I took his name out of the thread title, and that's all I'm going to edit. The point needed to be made, and I made it.

Beyond that, I really don't care who you are or who you think I am.

You gotta be pretty flippin' dense to not realize a thread with 14 "what should I do?" options is anything less than a dig at the half of the postings on this board.

Guess its pretty obvious who alerted SN to THUNDERDAN's thread.

This just in from the sidelines:

Dan did link the card he bought for us, and, that allowed me to check out
Novella's items for sale. In business free advertising is a bonus, regardless
if it's good or bad. Or in this case part of a spoof (for those that got it) anyway.

I wonder how many others did the same as me?

It never ceases to amaze me how some people refuse to see irony, sarcasm, cynicism and humor in many posts. I guess it is too easy to read without thinking. It is easier to take things at face value without understanding.

Perhaps that is why there are so many that get taken. They leap before they look.

Sorry that Dan had to take such abuse for his parody. Sure, perhaps it was wrong to use someone active in the hobby, but using a name and linking the auction added to the credibility of the farce. Interesting how many took the bait and were too busy condemning to see the truth.

I've been there, Dan. I feel your pain, but I share your laughter, too. Dolts will be dolts.

On a serious note, there seems to be a certain swell on these boards and I'm sensing that we'll be seeing a very unpleasant situation in the near future. Just a word to the wise . . . there are no free rides and if you think that there are, don't cry too hard when you realize that you were wrong.
