I thought I was 6001, but if not, then 6002.

    Very impressive set!

I've looked twice. Does that bring it back to 6,000 views or do multiple looks not count? image

    Nevermind.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

No realone....I don't earn anything. It's just nice to know people are looking.

And No....I don't go out and look at it very often. Not many of the views are mine.

If you deduct the number of times you've looked it over
and Linda eyeballing it [ she wants a new kitchen ] - then
only a few thousands hits actually...image

Nice collection, Jon. Does it ever go on display - such as Central States ?

  • Dimeman you have a very nice set. I like to set my counter at how many viewers have seen my set not how many views. I want to know how many computers or a closer count of how many people have actually viewed my set. Other wise the same guy could have seen it 40 times. I want to know how many people have seen my set.

Great set, Jon, but you need a 1941 DDO. image

    Great coins!

I was wondering about the "Complete" label, too.

<< <i>About this set: I had at one time all the dimes from 1796 to present, >>

Does this mean you had at one time the 1873-CC No Arrows?
Or do you mean "Complete" in the "PCGS Set Registry sense".
It does have a PCGS serial number (4661), but is not counted in this set definition for some reason?

[Edit to add:] Thanks, keyman64. I see it is PCGS's choice for the way they label this particular set.

Note: the old coinfacts.com site says a "second example" in the VG-VF range appeared in the December 2002 PCGS Pop reports:
    http://coinfacts.com/dimes/seated_liberty_dimes/1873cc_no%20arrows_dime.htm
"A second specimen appeared, without fanfare, in the December 2002 PCGS Population Report in the VG/VF range. The existence of the coin was confirmed by Michael Sherman of PCGS."

But Gerry Fortin said he was owned a mislabelled specimen, and had it reholdered in 2000. He feels it's a glitch in their database, apparently.

"Jason....you are correct in that the PCGS pop report lists two 1873-CC NA dimes. The second one was graded VF30.
    I own that coin!....
Actually...the VF30 coin was another PCGS labeling quality problem that entered their pop database. I bought this "NA 1873-CC" from Brian Greer years ago and loved to display it for the laughs and comments. In 2000, I had PCGS relabel the dime for free, but they never bothered to change their database. ...."

The REGISTRY SET is referred to as the Complete Set of Dimes....DIMEMAN'S SET is not yet complete/finished/100% etc...is this where the confusion is?

Beautiful set! I put a counter on one of my incomplete complete sets about 5 years ago, just for the heck of it. After 5 years, I have barely crossed the 1200 mark. I am sure a good number of those views were me.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I have been working on the dimes for a very long time. I got the nickname "DIMEMAN" from a group of collector friends of mine who go to a LOT of shows together. When we would head out for a show everyone would ask...what will you be looking for today. I would always answer "dimes". image
  • Wow, nice set! I'd love to assemble a type set from your coins (like your sigline) and be happy with that. image
