What do you think of this peace dollar

Do you think this toning enhances the value, or do you prefer it blast white? It is in a MS64 holder

    ugly coloring

    that I'd call tarnished. image

I'd think it would hurt its value.

It's tough to tell from those grainy shots... my first impression was the tone looks like it was caused from artificial heat.

  • I don't think it does anything for the coin. Needs to brigth white.

I think it might look OK in hand, but with photos like that almost any coin could look ugly.

21s often get a gunmetal blue/peach patina that is rarely seen on other low-relief dates. Yours might be that, but again, impossible to tell.

The strike is weak / below average, even for a 21.

    I like it !

    It's a 64 for xxxxx sakes. 1921.
    Nice strike.

Tough Crowd. I know Ricko wouldn't like it, but geez.

I'm not sure that's a nice strike. It looks pretty flat to me.

Now I like them as dark as the next guy, and I think I see some luster, but I guess I like a different flavor of dark.

  • I have a feeling that coin looks pretty in hand. The picture is making it look bad, I do like it though.

IMHO it's a pretty average strike.

Angle it in the light...it looks like it may have some color that way. Subdued, but there.
To me, unless it pops out if you do that, no, the toning you show does not enhance the value for me (and likely for others as well).

It actually does look like it has some luster to it though.

    If that's a 64 then my 1921 would be a 67+
Either that's a really poor photo with very flat lighting or the grader was feeling REALLY GOOD that dayimage

I don't think you can accurately judge the coin by those photos.

    reverse?

A little too dark, for me.but that's just me.I think the only thing that would peak the interest would be the ' date' very good year for the "PEACE".image

Ugggh. Those actually make it look worse. I definitely don't like it. image

While I do find that some toning patterns really make a coin "pop", I'm more of an original recipe than extra-crispy kind of guy.

I like it even though the strike is a little weak
