PCGS-slabbed 2010 5 oz. ATBs - "Choice BU" & "GEM BU" designations

jmski52jmski52 Posts: 23,192 ✭✭✭✭✭
Does anyone have any idea what grades might be possible from some of the Choice BU and GEM BU slabs that were issued in 2010? Amark distributed only slabs that were designated "Choice BU", and Jack Hunt somehow distributed an assortment that included both actual grades AND the "GEM BU" designation.

Has anyone ever had any of these slabs graded?

    MS63+ = Choice

    MS65+ = Gem

There are some good coins in those holders... some clients resubmitted and got an odd 69 DPL. But PL and decent grades are not uncommon.

Run Forrest Run I have a few of these sets in the sdb and I can tell you like Ian said some from Amark turned out good, they did NOT cherry pick. Now Jack Hunt any of theres in those holders I can tell you are junk. Worth bullion thats it. There were also the mixed sets from ampex and trust me those B U were as bad as Jacks. This is when I and others finally realized that some of these companies sent in coins with a MINIMUM grade and took the best and the others were slabbed as B U good luck soon as silver hits 40 an ounce I plan to unload a few sets for Melt.......Enjoy tom

  • My NGC BU GEM sets came thru Dillon Gage. My Jacks were all high grades - it was just luck of the draw with them.
  • Apmex has 160 ms69dmpl sets. Buy 5 or more and get them for $1795 per set. WOW image Feel sorry for those that paid north of 5 grand for a set. Man I sure should have unloaded my 68 dmpl sets for $1800 + when I had the chance. I'll be sitting on these like chicken eggs for many years I think. I've heard they will skip across a pond very very well image

You got lucky to even get any from DG and I wasn't even aware Jack even sold any.

Like someone mentioned earlier it could be 30 or 40 years before these ever gain any real interest.

  • anyone who bought these to keep needs there head examined....I bought 4 sets to flip and made a killing. I could never see why some people paid tripple melt for plain old SILVER. it had no other value then what it was made from!!!

To this day the people who paid more then melt for them must get burnt when touching them!!!!
