<< <i>all of you unopened collectors do understand that all of these cards were made to be opened and find out what players were inside right? How many kids that enjoy cards have unopened packs? I'd guess, not many, if any. And if they do have unopened packs as children then I'd bet that it's not a very interesting or fun childhood, lol.
I'm halfway kidding of course, but I do believe in the fun aspect of ripping this vintage stuff. I'm so competitive and have played sports all my life, now I need that outlet or the adrenaline rush of poker, gambling on golf/stocks, and yes, opening higher end packs. To each his own I guess, but if I hit the lottery or become the next Mark Cuban I can gaurantee that the unopened supply of vintage will go WAY down, lol. >>
Tommy and I were talking about this on Saturday. I can set it on a shelf and look at it for hours and not be tempted to open it. I laughed my butt off when Tommy said if he ever got locked in MacroB's room, it would be raining wrappers and not dollas.
Next group of 4...including an appearance by Tom Terrific! The Duncan is a toughie, too.

Don't let Jim find that out.
And I ripped everything I had as a kid, I just outgrew the urge. After looking at the cards Tim is pulling, I almost have the urge to rip one of my 1986 wax packs.
Edited to add: You had to pull that Seaver didn't you!!!

Here's the next quartet...including Willie Stargell and the immortal Herb Washington! Rau is a tougher card to find in decent shape..

I would love to see MacroB's face when he came home to Corvette busting all his pallets of wax cases.
He would have a
and rightfully so.

OK, the final 4...this one is for Tony (aconte)...the Schmidt measures up but is centered a bit low, so probably an 8...The Ryan Highlights card is even tougher to find centered than the Ryan #500.
Ok, that concludes my ripping for today...1/2 box of 75 minis...I will save the other half and send a few packs in to PSA before they get ripped like their counterparts, LOL..One thing is certain--unlike the GAI slabs, the PSA holders are not rip-friendly...Word has it they consulted with cpamike on the design..

Tim ... Congrats on some real nice pulls ... and thanks for sharing.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Thanks, guys, I feel good about that Winfield which is worth about 10 packs if it comes back Mint 9.

Love the pink/yellow color scheme on the Mayberry card. Talk about a color burst!! I can see why Larry Fritsch said '75 was his favorite set of the '70s.

I don't know 75 minis from a hole in the wall, but isn't the Winfield too low to be a 9? ... I mean it looks great, the color in these cards are fantastic ... I think you have a great scanner setup!
What percent of cards you rip do you feel are worthy of submission for these 75 minis?
I've submitted hundreds of 75 minis over the years and the Winfield is definitely within centering parameters for a 9.
Hard to say what % of cards are submittable. It varies according to the quality of the packs, which varies greatly from box to box. This box is better than most and color and registration were above average.

And yes, PSA did consult me, but my idea cost too much to implement so they went with those cheap holders.
